Anti-Dazzle mirrors

I see heated, auto-dimming, and "anti-dazzle" all used to describe mirrors. I searched and came up empty-handed. Someone care to explain?

there is a sensor in you rear view mirror that when it catches the sunset light behind you or a car that has bright lights the lights will actually dim on their own. works like a calculator actually

Yeah I have that (and it's actually messed up, need to replace it soon) but I've been seeing this term on parts for the side mirrors. check out www.genuineaudiparts.com to see what i mean

anti-dazzle = auto dimming --- i hate how the part retailers word their descriptions

here is a list of the part #s for both dimming and non-dimming (both types are heated):

Dimming
Left 8D0-857-535-C
Right 8D0-857-536-M

Non-dimming
Left 8D0-857-535-F
Right 8D0 857 536 N

Yeah, anti-dazzle is actually how Audi terms them.

That said, if anyone here is looking for mirrors, I have several available. I have a few sets of heated/auto-dim outside mirror glass and 1 black auto-dimming compass mirror for the inside.

Also...were ALL the B5 mirrors compass? I'm picking up a car in a few weeks that has a leaky rear view, and I'm not sure it has compass or not. If only some had it, can a compass mirror be installed without mod to work?

I grabbed a rear view mirror out of a b6, worked awesome. Hell, you can turn the anti glare off at the mirror and watch the b5 mirrors do their thing.
