    Portland 93 Octane?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

What places in portland sell 93 octane? Here in sw Pdx I see alot of 91 and 92 but not 93 level octane. I am thinking about getting the APR 93 program but I am assuming you have to put 93 octane fuel in the engine if you are running that software.

    Re: Portland 93 Octane?

does that mean I shouldn't get the APR 93 Octane software, and just stick with the 91 octane?

    Re: Portland 93 Octane?

You could go with the 93oct chip, I've heard from several tuners the only reason they make a "91oct file" is for California's 91 which is closer to the East coasts 89oct

    Re: Portland 93 Octane?

just to confirm...do not go with a 93 octane tune if you're planning on running crappy Oregon 92 octane.

if you want to get more performance, get the race gas tune and the switcher option.

    Re: Portland 93 Octane?

So is it worth it to get the 91 octane proggy and run it on pdx 91 or 92 octane?

    Re: Portland 93 Octane?

Just get the normal one so 91 octane. I know their #s are nice to look at but don’t let it take over you. So on the safe side yes 91 octane. Or you can still do the 93 or race program and just stock up race gas from Matrix and store in your room

    Re: Portland 93 Octane?

I got the 91 flash and have been running it consistently on 92 gas (from shell) for the last 2+ months without any problems. I think you could get away with running 92 on the 93 flash if it's a nice cool day, but you'd probably run into problems in the summer. Either way it's a HUGE improvement over stock.

    Re: Portland 93 Octane?

You should only run the 91oct program here in OR Eric. 91oct is west coast(save for BC where they have 94) and 93oct is east coast. Here in OR remember that we don't have any fuel quality regulations (no State agency tests fuel quality) so the quality of our fuels can actually be worse than Cali gas. Any clean Chevron, Texaco, Shell or 76 should be good but if you can fill up in Vancouver, do so.

    GIAC 91oct FTW!

    Hi Noffy,
Dean from Futrell Autowerks your local APR dealer since 2003 here. APR designed two octane specific street files based on octane for the US markets, 91 octane and 93 octane. Occasionally you'll see someone up in Seattle claiming a gas station has 93 octane because the pump said so but as noted the only grade of premium we get at the pump in Oregon/Washington is 92 octane, and this 92 in the winter (11/15-3/15) is heavily oxygenated which lowers our fuel quality. When customers ask about the 93 file we sell it as an upgrade, not the stand alone year round file, you don't want to use it in the Winter or in the summer on really hot days. There are several months in the year you can run the APR 93 file with no adverse effects (the ECU can easily adjust the timing for our 92 spec fuel). The main benefit of the 93 program is the timing so the car pulls harder, the horsepower difference is small but is there and we do see the difference at the wheels on the dyno.

Give us a call or feel free to come by for a trial or even a thirty day test drive. I also noticed your sig be sure and talk to us about rear swaybars before you go H-sport, we’d also be happy to show you a number of upgrades for your B7, and we’ve got a customer getting ready to turn in his 06 on lease, he’s got an RS4 grille he’s looking to swap out if you’re interested?
