    Hey guys,

Well I wanna get my car rust proofed, and I was wondering which companies are decent and what it would cost to do roughly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Krown

Krown is a pretty good rustproofing company www.krown.com

Under pricing at the top right it says for cars it's $109.95.

I'm not sure what year your car is (2000? judging by your name) but the B7's use galvanized sheet metal which won't rust. Worst case scenario, the paint will come off. But no rust!

Another option would be those new electronic nodes that emit an electric current through your car so that rust can't form. Although it does work, you need to install a main control module about the size of your hand on one end of your car and run a node from that one to the other end. I have seen a car with it installed only in the engine compartment and and the whole front end was rust free but the rest of the car wasn't.
I believe it also draws from your battery all the time regardless if your car is on or off.

I actually bought one of these for my old car but never installed it because of all the work and the possibility of it constantly drawing from the battery. But this is a one time thing whereas rustproofing is recommended you do it every year.

    Re: Rust proofing

I had Krown rust proof my BMW last year (even though I store it for the winter) and was happy about the service.

What I wasn't sure about was how they drill holes in the door jams to spray inside the panels then plug the holes up. I guess that's the only way they can cover all the areas, but I don't like the idea of drilling....

If they do, I couldn't tell where they are. I couldn't find any holes.

    Re: Rust proofing

personaly i wouldnt let them drill the doors . i dont think the car will rust at the doors . but getting the bottom done will stop stuff from getting seized . i used to work for a company that did this . the guy who is drilling could have been working there 5 min . i rember drilling through 1/2 a inch of metal b4 getting through that cant b good . it will b cheeper to just get the bottom done and u wont have to deal with holes in ur car . and even if they use plugs they can fall out . its just not good .

and to top it all off i dont see many ppl owning cars for over 15 years . most likly everyone who is reading this will have a new car in under 5 years . so why waist ur time and money . now if u plan on keeping this car for ur kid who is 10 , then go nuts and rust proof every year . only reason i might do it , is cause i had a seized tierod this year that was a pain in the butt and i wouldnt mind skipping that next year . dont our cars have a 12 year warrenty against rust ?

    Re: Rust proofing

I had my Corrado done by Krown. Drilled the doors and rear quarter panels and used a rubber plug. If I plan to keep the car, then I might do the undercarriage only.

I think there is a 10 year corrosion warranty on most Audis.

    Re: Rust proofing

Ok, I just saw the rubber plugs ( lost one ) on the car. So yes, Krown does drill holes and cover them up with the rubber plugs.

    Re: Rust proofing

I would stay far, far away from the 'rust-proofing' treatments that are out there. They aren't very effective, and serve only to piss off your mechanic as he tries to work on your gunked up car.

    1) Your Audi is galvanized so rust treatment is unnecessary.
    2) Rust proofing treatments trap the moisture that is already there. Yes, you are technically protecting against future moisture, but if you've trapped some inside you're hooped regardless.
    3) Your newer Audi's use very little steel in the suspension/undercarriage to begin with. Most of it's aluminium now, and not going to rust away.

It's just a waste of money.

Second what Dave said, I wouldn't bother doing this, it's a waste of money.
