    sparco racing seats

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i was looking to buy one Sparco Torino II racing seat in full black. i only want it for the drivers side becuase it has a big rip and makes the seat look like crap.
i know its not a direct bolt on so what type of kit or tools do i need to make it fit ?

also i have heated seats so i guess ill have to sacrifice that. will any features like airbags be affected from the new seat ?

last are these comfortable as i drive long distances sometimes.

    Re: sparco racing seats

those seats are the most comfortable as they are going to get - but it will never be as comfortable as oem seats. I recommend doing both because having one seat to me is just silly looking - but cost might be a factor. It is easy to take the seats out just remember to wrap a towel around the base ends so you don't scratch the interior when pulling out - racing seats are aways function over comfort.

you will need to do a air bag sensor delete mod which requires some resistors you can buy at radio shack -

you will need brackets for the seats - i think you can get those at wedge racing

You think the OEM seats are comfortable? To me they feel like sitting on a bench since they are so flat and hard.

I know what you're saying and for the most part I agree wholeheartedly. But, you have to sit in these for a while and try them out:

for long drives they aren't that bad - but anything else they feel dangerous because i slide around in my oem seat

    Re: sparco racing seats

I did several solo trips upwards of 800 miles in a day. My highest was 998 miles before midnight.

The stock seats get flat, hard, and unsupported. The heaters really help but the lumbar is oddly shaped and in a poor area. If you think the Audi has great seats then you really need to go drive a Volvo. From the 850 on up they have exceptional seats. Easily some of the best in the world. Those freeky deeky Swedes have IKEAs like we have MAL-WARTS and chill out in their eKornes stressless loungers and sip tea all day. They build some nice chairs for their rides.

I had Cobra Daytonas and they weren't bad at all. The first week I felt forced into an odd position and it was all a bit awkward. After maybe a month they felt better than anything. I was good for a pair of 6 hour stints in a day. Heaters would have made them better and the headrest could have been a couple inches taller but that is about it. My back hated me for a month after putting the stock sport seats back in.

I remember sitting in a 850 back when they first came out, the seats in that car were like sitting in a Lazy Boy.

I would rather sit in my cobra suzuka race seats then the OEM seats that came with my A4 even on my 8hr drives up to norcal which I did plenty of times.

I have the torino seats too. They are by far more comfortable than stock seats. I have made the drive from Minnesota to New Jersey 3 times now in the Sparcos.

i've been looking for a black leather pair of these out of a wrecked evo, although they will not have heat and all the goodies you've mentioned.

money is a factor for me and i hope it looks ok with just one racing seat.

but for the airbag delete mod is it necessary becuase my airbag light is already on in my car so it has never really bothered me and i really dont want to go through the hassle. if i do delete my airbag it wouldnt affect my steering wheel and side impact airbags would it ? does someone have the DIY for the airbag delete?

Why is your airbag light on??

If i were you i would fix the problem....and then when you go with aftermarket seats i would use the resistor trick to fool the system. Even if your steering wheel airbag works....if the airbag light is on due to the seats, the steering wheel bag will not deploy in an accident IIRC.

FYI checked out the mounts for R32 seats at a local GTG and they look like they will drop right in. Side airbags, seat heaters, the works.

The R32 is a hatchback so it's rear seats might also fit. A friend had old school GTi Recaros in his Audi 4KQ so I know it is doable and it looked great.

my airbag light is on from the previous owner. they went to the dealer multiple times to get the passenger seat airbag fixed if i recall since they have all the service papers. the dealer never fixed the problem and they just left it that way. it doesnt really bother my but i recently crashed the front of my car and the air bags didnt deploy. im going to do the airbag delete for both seats if i can find the DIY.

can someone show me a link to the seat rails i would need exactly? A4ROB?

onemoremile and A4Rob, what mounting brackets did you use on those Sparcos?

I had Sparco Sprint before, and i had to custom my own bracket which causes lots of hassel.

    Re: sparco racing seats

Mine were Cobras. They previous owner had turned an older model Audi's height adjustable seat mount into a custom base with big weld boogers. It worked like a charm and held the seat nice and low.

Depends on what year car you have, IIRC it is 5ohm resistance for the ndbw and 2.5ohm resistance for the dbw.

Oh and they are sooooo much more comfortable than the stock seats. Full Alcantara FTMFW

I took 2 10 ohm resistors and twisted them together for my airbag delete mod.

I can pick up a set of super nice Corbeau's (sp?) from a friend for super cheap... but my main concern is the airbag thing. If I get new seats will I have to live without curtain and steering wheel airbags, along with my passengers? I mean walking out of a wreck due to 5219581905 airbags saving me or being uncomfortable as hell until I get the B7 but still alive in a wreck sounds like a good trade.

What gave you that idea?? As we already said...if you do the resistor mod...your airbag light stays off. When the light is off...all the remaining airbags are fully functional.

Actually even if the airbag light is on the other airbags will still work. The light just tells you there is a problem, it doesn't shut down the airbag system.

A B5 with the airbag light on was wrecked and the airbags still deployed.

    ohhh ok. I see.

What would cause them to go on? The decreased weight of the racing seat vs stock seat? Position?

and is there a write up on the airbag resistor mod?

Racing seats dont have the plug in for an airbag, therefore, when you disconnect your stock seat airbag plug, it will throw the light. It has nothing to do with the weight of the seat, just the lack of a airbag in the racing seat.

You can see the harness in one of my pictures. One of those plugs into the side airbag and when its unplugged the light comes on.

    Re: sparco racing seats

question for all of you who've swapped out the stock seats.... how many had power seats and how many had manual heated? where did you get the seat base for the manual seats? does the floor have the bolt holes for the power seats? as you may have guessed, i have manual seats and they are torn to crap. i want to get them out and something else in besides OEM. S4, aftermarket, whatever.
    thanks.

My back hated me for a month after putting the stock sport seats back in.
hate 2 be off topic kinda, but i beg to differ on the Volvo Seats, my madre's '05 XC70s seats r garbage.. they have the support like a park bench.. and the leather is really starting to show its age after 3 years..

but those black recaros look tits..

The SUV seats do suck. Demographics or target market or something...
