    Bad Drifting Experience

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So Friday night I was doing some backroad driving with my buddy John. We come up to a 60 degree right turn (litterally) when John says "Dude I always drift around this turn", so like what any guy would do, I slow down, dump the clutch (bad idea) and whip that shit around, it was all good fun until my drift came to a screeching hault. It felt like I had a bent rim. So I get out and to my surprise the rear left tire is off the rim and pushed inward about 2 inches! Fucking bridgestones suck! The whole sidewall was blown but luckily the rim never touched the pavement. I'm taking the tire to midas today to see if the tire is eligable for the 30 day warranty. Anyone else ever had this problem??

I'm going to take a guess here and suggest you may have had a seriously underflated rear tire.

    DOUBBLLLEEEEE POOOOSSTTTTTT

maybe we should have a new section called "dumb things ive done while driving"

i've got a similar story, but it was a minivan, it was on a paved road, and there was a LOT of tire screaming/smoke before mine blew lol

I worked at a shop that deals bridgestone potenza RE960s. Not a bad tire if all you're doing is commuting. Not a real performer in my book.

If you want to drift, go buy a 240sx. By trying to drift you just learned how good Quattro is.

look, im not saying its smart to try and drift an audi..
but every once in awhile i miss being able to do donuts and slide around an empty parking lot. lol

in my defense though -- evos, subys, etc etc arent rwd either and people "drift" those all the time in rallys and just off road in general...

They also weigh less than our cars and produce more power than our cars. Our fat ass B6s were never meant to go sideways I'm afraid..

true that... i love my fatty though.

grass is a fun way to screw around (as long as its someone else's grass) in pretty much anything though... that and tray sliding fwd's.

that's something some of the fronttrash guys should try out if they havent.

I have no problem drifting my Audi in a snow covered parking lot.
It's good practice to learn to control a slide.

All you need is a slippery surface and some car control skills.

A word of caution….. I was doing the same thing in the snow and managed to get so much snow underneath that I ripped the bell pan right off the car. But overall I guess it might have been worth the $160 to replace everything. Sure was fun!

Mine's only held on by a couple fastners, a bunch are missing. I have to order a complete fastner kit before the winter starts.

    Thanx for reminding me!

Fasteners? I keep on loosing mine and strauss lost most of them, now I use zip ties for major points of contact. Works amazing. Also recently I saw undercarriage. Looks like I scraped it few good times.
