I've got 255/40/19 and they rub very slightly, but this is because the offset is 48

Why not 255/35/18... that's much closer to the stock diameter.

why would it ride like crap? i think most people here with 18" wheels use 235/40/18, it's what audi recommends.

when i purchased my car the guy was running 225 in the front and 235 in the rear and every time i would hit a bump or semi-truck grooves in the road my car would pull so hard to one side i thought i was going to hit someone in another lane. i switched to 235 all around and the problem went away immediately.
