Correct, I don't have the bulb-out error on my red DIS. I don't know what to tell you since all I did was a direct swap with no resistors of any kind. If you knew the wattage of the bulb, you could pretty easily figure out what size resistor to use. Do you have the trip computer? My car doesn't have the trip computer; I don't have the little button on the end of the wiper stalk that lets me see my MPG and other information on the DIS. Could this have something to do with it? I noticed that when running VAG-COM, I do have an error code stored -- something along the lines of: "license plate light short to B+ or bulb out." So the car definitely knows the problem is there. I'm guessing it has something to do with the trip computer, but like I said, you could pretty easily add a resistor and get rid of the warning, and since both bulbs are on the same circuit, one resistor with the correct value for two bulbs would work and make everything a little easier.
