fog lights on when unlocking

i have seen some B6 A4s where the fog lights go on when the driver locks/unlocks the car!
whats going on? and can i make mine do that? (03 B6)

Thats sick. Im interested as well although i dont think it could be achieved just with a vag code. ???

Those are called security lights, I think. Press the tiny button next to the headlight switch. It'll pop out. Twist it once or twice, depending on how long you want the light to be on.

Not sure if it was a package?! Maybe Xenon package??? I thought all B6 A4 came with it. I have a 05 B6 USP. I still have the window sticker somewhere at home and I don't remember any special package.

I think you're talking about daylight running lights thing, canadian cars should have it and some US B6s

IIRC it is the 'follow me home' feature that was part of the xenon lighting package.

If this feature is turned on then when you lock/unlock your car the foglights light up and stay illuminated for 30 seconds then turn themselves off.

Very handy when you are at a place where there are no outside lights and you have to open the front door.

If you have this pop out switch to the right of the headlight switch then you have this feature. You push the button inwards to pop out the control knob, then you turn it to the 0 to turn the feature off or to the 1 to turn it on.

Are you referring to being able to have the fog lights on independent of the headlights or when you unlock the car in a dark lighting and the fog lights come on and when locking the car, the fogs stay on so illuminate a path?

'03 seems to be the only year that is able to vag the independent fogs. Other years have to do some wire splicing.

- when approaching the car, you unlock, and the only the fog lights come on?
- and when you leave the car and lock it, the fog lights come on for a little while, and then turn off?

IIRC, its actually '02's only that can do the foglight mod with the VAG, and all the others need to do some different work cause it on the list of things to do with my car.... as soon as I find someone in the area that has one and is willing to switch a few things on the car for me.

yup its the "come home/leave home" lights... was a separate option down in australia.

unlock the car and the fogs and parkers come on. open the driver's side door and they go out.

when you're coming home, turn off car, as soon as you remove the key, the fogs and parkers come on again and stay on for a minute after you've locked the car.

No because there is a separate module that controls this. On B6s with the small plastic piece to the right of the headlight switch that is blank, the coming home feature control is in place of this blank plastic piece.

This is the best I could find. For under $50 I think I might give it a shot. The one required for a car with the home-link is about 10 bucks more. Anyone have any idea on what type of wiring might be needed?
