Re: Milltek exhaust: resonated vs non-resonated

    Did that.

Looks like some people have trouble installing these exhaust due to air-leak. Did Milltek fix that problem? or the problem still exist?

I am planning on putting downpipe + full cat exhaust system, but people have different opinions on this (either get the resonated or non-resonated exhaust), how loud is the non-resonated exhaust with DPs exactly?

Re: Milltek exhaust: resonated vs non-resonated

IIRC from the posts I have read, the advice is to get the non-res if you are only going cat-back; and to go res if you go full-back. This keeps it civil, but I have no real world experience, just virtual experience with this mod.

Re: Milltek exhaust: resonated vs non-resonated

This is such a subjective thing but I have a res cat back only. It sounds really nice. Not too loud but definately better than stock. This combined with a CAI like a strat, sounds really good at WOT. I get comments on how cool the car sounds even at start up. IMHO, non- res may be too loud, but the res offers a nice compromise between that and stock.

Thanks for the vids. That FI exhaust has a great note. I think I may re-think the Milltek purchase.

Milltek is probably one of the quietest exhausts out there...I had the non-resonated CB and it was nice..not loud at all...i cant imagine how much quieter the resonated version is...that's just me though

Yup, +1. The FI sound a little too NASCAR to me with the DP's...but I'm old.

Re: Milltek exhaust: resonated vs non-resonated

The Milltek resonated CB is just a little louder than stock. With DP's it's perfect in my opinion. I've heard almost every setup I've seen posted…you really need to hear the difference in person. Our opinions and videos really mean nothing compared to personal experience. There’s a ton of FI fans out there that find the Milltek too tame and then there’s the other school who find the Milltek’s refined sound just right. You could go on and on for every brand and set up. Additionally, many become so addicted and then accustomed to their current sound, that they end up changing just to keep it fresh. Bottom line, you shouldn’t just purchase and hope the sound is right. It’s a slippery slope the mod bug is.

Also, if you mate up a non-res milltek with the APR downpipes is is significanly louder than one mated up to the milltek dowpipes (my buddy has that setup) and I like the note over the Fast Intention (just my opinion, i had that exhaust here as well).

Any idea how the APR DP's with an FI CB will sound? I already have the APR DP's (I trust them more than any other company) and am planning on mating them to the FI CB...although the 50% Res Militek is still in the back of my mind.
Cool stuff with a little growl!

I installed my FI catback 4 days ago, and love the tone. At first I thought I should have gotten DP's because I thought it was too quiet--but it's growing on me. Sounds mean.

Did you go resonated or non-resonated? I want to non-resonated, but I have clients in my car from time to time and don't need it too loud. But I need a growl I can hear and enjoy.
