VDO Boost gauge

Does anyone have any night shots of the VDO boost gauge? I'm not sure how it lights up, full red or white backlight with a red needle. I'm looking to get it to match a facelift interior (2001), where the backlight on the gauges are all white and the needles are red, like the AWE boost gauge.

I opted out for the Pro Sports Boost gauge, awesome price, looks great, white when lights are off, amber red when headlights are on.

i've got the red LED in mine, it looks good and matches the interior perfectly, but i also have a 97 with all red VDO gages

Hey, how is the visibility of the gauge in the vent on the driver's side? I just sat in my car and imagined it being over there compared to the left center vent and it felt like I was stressing my eyes out alot more looking down there... how's it work for you? I was really wanting to get it done in the left vent, but here's my point of view:



The steering wheel kind of blocks the gauge... or have you found this to be not a problem?

i have mine on the left vent, i'll get a picture later tonight. it works okay, not exactly what i would prefer, i think center vent would be more practical, but it does look a little better, more a part of the gage cluster, on the left vent.

Looks better in person, but these are red bulb condoms... Don't do the white because the incandecent bulb is too yellow and white LEDS are too blue. If you can find a TRUE WHITE LED that would work but those are VERY expensive and VERY hard to find...

Honestly, it looks like a hot set of tits with all red since it matches everything else on the outside of the cluster... This is the best pic I could come up with but I don't like the white myself outside of the cluster area...

Hmm... you're right. Now that I see that, I'm thinking I might want a vent pod for the center vent... what's the other gauge you have there, oil pressure?

Yep! Boost and oil pressure, soon to come is EGT on the right vent and on the drivers vent I will have AFR, all in red...

I was thinking about the AWE for a while too, but the VDO does look clean for a fraction of the price. And Ewok_Fetus is right, white backlighting would look kind of weird anywhere outside of the cluster area...

Its fine, I see it in the corner of my eye, though if you want to be 100% sure you've got to kind of look away, but I'm sure its the same way for the center vents. The problem with the center vents is that is a PITA to connect. On the drivers side, all the fuses are there, the ecu grommet is right there too, every easy to hook everything up.

Yeah you can so that it turns on with the dash lights and adjusts with them.

I set mine up differently, main power is connected to the ACC whenever the ignition goes on the boost gauge lights up as well. When I turn on my headlights it goes amber. (Headlight fuse.)

Hahahha. I had the dealer replace the cluster because it had dead pixels a few years ago. Hopefully this will last a few more years after I give the car to my little sister.

Don't trust what that thing says... Also, could be what his "current" mpg is. Not his average...

No LED needed. The guage came with a green and a red condom to put over the white light.

Don't trust the guages. I moved the needles in PS for the photo just like how I removed the garage through the windshield.
