    "Race" brake fluid a good choice for daily driver?

    I see ATE makes a product called "ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid Dot 4". I like the fact that it's a different color, so I could see when I had it bled to each caliper. Is this fluid a good choice for a daily driver?

    I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I'm not afraid to ask it.

    i wouldnt think it would be bad to use, but theres no reason to pay extra for it just to use on the street. i use motul 600 in my car just because i take it to the track about once or twice a month

    If your daily driving only, i don't think a DOT 4 temp brake fluid is needed, your probably just going to waste more money on the fluid then using it to its potential. Normal brake fluid should be fine for you if your just street driving, but the upgraded fluids wouldn't hurt.

    Well, the cost really isn't significant. C'mon now. We're driving an Audi.

    But I'm not considering using anything less than DOT4 since that's what the factory calls for in the manual, and it's presumably what's in there now since it's been dealer serviced exclusively to this point.

    I vaguely remember reading very recently that racing fluids attracts more water then the non-racing fluid. I can't find the info now and I'm not sure why this would be the case. If you track your car your changing fluid regularly so it is not an issue. I've been tracking my car once a month this season and tried several fluids (track grade) in the past and I can't tell a difference. Pads make a huge difference!

    Ate superblue fluid is fine for a daily driver. bleed and flush every other year and all will be good. BUT the ATe SuperBlue has been know to cause squeeky clutch issues on the B5 cars.

    Personally i prefer and use the Pentosyn Super DOT4. It is affordable and has high dry/wet temps.

    Yes on the SuperBlue squeaking.

    For any of our performance-minded clients, we use Motul RBF600;
    Motul RBF600 (Dot4) synthetic racing brake fluid; $13.95/per pint

    It's not that much more expensive than standard OEM brake fluid;
    ATE SL (Dot4) brake fluid; $6.40/per pint

    So, about $15.10 total more for the RBF600.
    We have plenty in stock if you need.
