Anybody know how to change the value for the ecu flash counter. I have to go to service tomorrow and I want to set it to 1.

    Re: ECU Counter?

I go to the shop where I got flashed and they do it for me. I am running Revo
    -Unitronics Stage 2+ ECU/TCU tune.
    -EI AL CAI.
    -Driver Mod.

    Re: ECU Counter?

The Revo dealer near me said that the counter cant be reset. And that APR would be the best way to go if you didn't want to void your warranty. I'm not sure if theres any truth to this but the APR flash prevents the dealership from looking into the ECU therefore they cant prove that you it modded. So the dealer would just re-flash back to the factory and send you on your way. Is any of this true?

    Re: ECU Counter?

Yes, all of it is true. There is a stock program that APR has, and when I go to the dealership all I do is set the car to the stoc program and when they run a diagnostic they can't tell the car is modded because all the readings they get match the stock settings.

    Re: ECU Counter?

for a service you will be fine if you just set to stock mode. their is no real way to have your ecu flashed and for them not to find it if they really want but they wont spend that much time on your car when they probebly have plenty to service that day.

Oettinger's software has an option to reset the counter. Unfortunately i don't have the cable anymore so I cannot get a screen shot.

Seriously some of the cars come from the dealer have counters also going up! If the Audi wants to find it...they will find it!

Thats what I was told by the guys at APR, I was told some ECU's are flashed multiple times before it even leaves the factory so they cant base it off of flash counter

    Re: ECU Counter?

Yea i was told by the REVO dealer that no matter what i get if the dealership wanted to they could find out if it was flashed. Is there a way to read the value of teh counter? That way if it was flashed 3 times you can reset it (if you had revo) and reflash it 3 times with the stock program? would that work?? does that make any sense???

Dealerships all spout out this BS. I have yet to have one single person say how they will find it at the dealership level. You will here dealership techs come on the forums every once in awhile and say, "we know how to find it." but they dont. If you log an APR chip in stock mode it will log indetically to a stock chip and the dealership code, flash date, and flash counter will not send out flags. And contrary to what some dealerships will try and get you to believe, our ECU does not record datalogs and store them so dont worry about that.

    cheers! Mike

    Re: ECU Counter?

OptiCan would be the only system on the market per today, that are able to reset flash counters - meaning the user decide number of flash to be shown.
We have a software for this now for VAG TDI edc16 ecu's, and hopefully will this also be available for me7 and me9 (petrol) ecu's soon.
    Speed is Fun!!
