Water on door sills after rain?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've only had my car for a few months now, so i'm not sure what is normal with these. when it rains, or after it rains to be exact, when I open my doors there is water pooled up on the door sills, which then runs out when i open the door. This is causing rust stains on the bottom of my door panels and such. Is this normal? Do i have bad seals on all four doors?

I get that when I was my car, I just dry it off with a rag and I am good to go.

Mine does this too, after a good downpoor, the doors piss like half a gallon upon opening. It is kind of annoying.

Yeah, kind of a dumb design flaw if you ask me. Maybe there is a drain or the seals are jacked?

what if you installed those lighted door sills, you think they would crap out because of the rain?

This happens on my rear doors, the fronts are fine. Just have to remember to open them briefly after a rain.

Re: Water on door sills after rain?

Water on the door sills is perfectly normal. When it rains, water actually drains through the door and out the drain holes in the bottom of the door. Open your door and look along the bottom edge and you will see several drain holes. Now take a hose and run some water along the outside of the window. Water finds it way around the seal at the base of the glass, through the door, and out the bottom via the drain holes.

Re: Water on door sills after rain?

I have it, too. I'd love to get rid of it. After a good rain I open my door and there is water on the door sill but most of it has gathered inside the door and drips out after 20 seconds. I hate it. I think old guy is right. If I have water on my window and roll it down then back up, I can still see drops like they were never touched by the weatherstripping.

I'd like to hear more about this rubber compound attempt at fixing it. Pics?

Mine does it also, but I never get a musty smell. My a/c smells musty when it's on though.

This is a retarded design then. I pulled my door card to try some dyes on the leather/vinyl and there were rust stains on the bottom. What kind of crap design is this? And that probably explains why my speakers cut in and out when it rains. I bet water is getting in there.

resurrecting this old thread for a possible solution. the bottom of my door cards are soaked and are now starting to warp. and when it freezes, there is literally a line of of ice on the door sill sometimes preventing the door from opening.
