    Steve's detailing- Newport Beach

has anyone herd of them? they charge $149 to clay, polish, and wax the car. they also clean the inside along with the headliner. They pressure wash the engine bay if you want, but you need to sign a waiver. The price seems good for all the things they do, and it takes 3 hours. The price is the same for any car, any size. They had a lot of BMWs and even a classic Ford GT race car in there today. But i would like some first hand testemonials..

    thanks

Well, don't pressure wash the engine that's for sure.

    Not a bad price though.

Not a bad price indeed.. but I have a feeling they work like a hand car wash.. hiring workers paid 7-9$ hour, everything done fast and without passion. And if they use a pressure wash for the engine then it's a good sign they work fast. I've seen many expensive cars filled with holograms and swirls caused by rotaries. I've got many client who have told me that their car paint is in excellent shape and they think it only needs a wax/seal. However upon inspection one can found paint oxidation, and the clay bar finished all dirty.

For me.. detailing is an art.. a passion.. and that's the reason why I don't mind working on the weekends. A friend of mine who also details on my area has told many of us that there are so many people spendig thousand of dollars on their cars.. and very little on detailing. However a properly detailed stock car can look better and pops more than a modded car with swirls and fade paint.

to clearify. they only pressure wash the engine if you ask them to. and if so, you must sign a waiver as they arent respoinsible for any electrical damage or whatever. Otherwise, they clean it down with towels or whatever.

they said they clay bar the car, polish it with a buffer (14yr of experience guy) and then had wax it. they clean it inside out, including headliner and stuff.

it takes them about 3 hours with at least 2 people working on it. its in a nicely covered environment.

again, seen many expensive cars. i felt them, they were smooth, but im not sure about the deep shine...

2 people in 3 hours seems like a rush job. If you can't find any postive reviews there, I would take it to a reputable place even if it cost more. Saving some cash now and find out later that you will need flaws corrected is gonna cost more in the long term.

Still sounds to me like they could care less about what the car looks like. Its too easy to make a car look good and make the customer happy. You could just wash and wax a car and 99% of the people would be happy. IMO, people taking only 3 hours to detail a car are taking short cuts.

yepp bunch of exotic cars all the time.

is it as simple as wash, clay, rinse, polish, and wax? or should there be more steps, as far as the paint goes?

If you want it to look best there are multiple machine polishing/compounding steps to get rid of the swirls and perfect the surface.

If they finish polishing with a wool pad polishing then they are not good.
