What is torque rating on knock sensor? Would changing this affect CF?

We must realize as knock sensors get old they go deaf, etc yadda.

What is the proper torque rating on the knock sensor?

Would increasing the torque (better, replacing the sensor) a little have much effect on the ecu? consider age of sensor.

One would think we'd replace the knock sensor on a 2002 by now.

    any thoughts?

    20Nm (about 15 ft-lb)
Yes, the torque on the knock sensors will change the voltages. Don't do it though. Torque them exactly to spec. If you suspect they're bad, just get new ones.

Re: What is torque rating on knock sensor? Would changing this affect CF?

so you think after 4-5 years (90K) miles it may be wise to replace them?

Anyone notice that #4 cylinder (end of fuel rail) tends to get more CF than the rest? (swapped plugs, new cp's, moved injectors).

I wonder if all cylinders are pulling but the knock sensor is more/less sensitive.

Bad is like the o2 sensor. It will become less responsive and read leaner. My mpg will decrease (maybe .05mpg at a month) but that means i ordered a new one.

What say ye on knock sensor replacement. The quicker timing is pulled, the less likely the engine will crater in the aging years.

It's the subsonic detonation i worry about. I can hear ping like no tomorrow (i tune cars, lol). SBD kills.

if you suspect they are bad, I see no reason not to replace them as they're relatively cheap (maybe 70 bucks for the pair?)

Yes if you over torque the knock sensor will make a huge difference in the reading they will send to the ECU.

Referring to the why the the Num 4 cylinder have more CF that the other is because is the farther cylinder from the throttle body. That makes the 4 cylinder a little lean so the ECU most compensate for this variation. Those German think in everything
I recommend torquing them at 15 lb/ft not more or less.
