My car takes 10 minutes to warm up -- Blown thermostat?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just bought a used S4 with 60K miles on it. I noticed that the car takes a while for the temp to get to the center between blue and red. This morning, I timed it, and it took approximately 10 minutes (including freeway driving) for the temp to get to the middle. Is my thermostat stuck open or is this normal for an S4?

    Thanks in advance.

You mean the coolant? or the oil?
My coolant takes at least 10 minutes to warm up, and that usually involves getting on the freeway and maintaining high-speeds. If I really push hard on a cold car, it takes about 5-7 minutes.

during the winter, for my 20 mile drive to work, MAYBE by the time i park the car the oil would be warm...

    coolant is about 5-10 minutes...

by the time i get to the front of my neighbor hood hit hits dead center ruffly about 5 to 7 like everyone else.

when i did my timing belt i found out that the thermo was stuck open causing it to never fully warm up and took around 20mins to get any sort of reading. and i did not get any reading before i changed out my bad thermo sensor.
