i've noticed alot of people talking about wheel spacers, so my guess would be "poke".

I would say the general consensus would be for the wheels to be flush with the side.

    Re: tuck or poke?

Audi guys like to sit flush but some tuck in the rear, not many on the boards like the stretched look unless they are dubber fans as well

lol the responses to this thread made me laugh. As an ex dubber I knew what the thread was about but its funny how a different group of guys have no idea what the terminology is. I personally prefer flush or slight tuck, keeps the lines clean IMO

    Re: tuck or poke?

i believe the tire manufacturers specially say to not put on wheels that are too wide for safety reasons. while it may look good, if you need to poke, you can PIITB of your girl.

    lame for safety reasons.

    Re: tuck or poke?

Usually to get good poke, you have to go with a tire narrower than recommended for that rim width.
If all you want is to do is look at your car, go for it.
If you drive hard and want great performance, go with something less extreme and a wheel size the tire was designed for.

I think the VWs with poked wheels look rediculous and probably don't handle nearly as good as they can with a proper wheel/tire size. They often look jacked up in the rear also to give a cartoonish raked look.

I'm all about performance, if you can't tell. I don't like staggered wheels on an understeering AWD car nor silly sized setups just to look cool.

But it's YOUR car, and what you want you should get, so don't listen to me.
However, you did ask, so that was my biased opinion.

    Re: tuck or poke?

There are no safety issues with stretching a tire on a wheel and your handling will not be adversely affected > the only thing you'll notice is a slightly stiffer ride because the sidewals have less give. As far as safety goes though > if it's good enough for the autbahn and TUV in Germany, it's certainly good enough for our lame speed limits and safety laws. Tire shops don't like the unknown...most have not done it so they don't venture into uncharted territory and don't want the possibility of opening themselves up to lawsuits because 'the manufacturer doesn't recomment it'. Just my 2 cents

Stretched tires break traction sooner, so it's not very difficult to reach a point where the stretch does adversely affect handling.

    Re: tuck or poke?

you think the giant warning on the FK452 that say DO NOT PUT ON A 8.5" RIM is just for giggles?

they could design a tire for this application if it was indeed safe.

But most of those poke cars are all show no go so it's not a big deal.

...and if you knew how strict TUV was in Germany you'd know that it is completely safe or they wouldn't let it on the roads. They have some of the strictest vehicle safety laws if not THE strictest on the planet for good reason (the no speed limit thing). Every single modification must be inspected and passed before it can be used on the car. Sorry but it's perfectly safe...as a challenge, I'd like to see someone post a pic or a story related to a stretched tire safety issue to prove me wrong.
