    "Loaner" cars?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Do we get loaner cars while our Audi is getting serviced? Is it based on the dealership? My Audi is from Santa Monica Audi. I want to take mine in, but if I do, I can't get to work.

    Thanks guys.

    Re: "Loner" cars?

Audi should provide you with an Audi loaner vehicle unless they have an "Enterprise" company there to loan you one. They just basically loan you the car and they transfer your insurance to the loaner for the time you have it.

    Re: "Loner" cars?

Audi usually gives you a loner car if the service takes more than a day...

Don't expect to get another Audi as a loner car unless you have an A8.... Yes, you heard me!!! Audi only offers Audi A4 Loner if you own an A8.

For all of us A4 owners they'll give you a cheap american car.

Now if you know your Service Advisor and your car take more than a week at the dealer like mine than you might get a brand new Mercedes C230 Sport as a Loner car.

I drove it for a week and was kind of fun.... After all I still missed my A4.

You might get a car that's lonely... It might have been sitting there all alone for awhile... I'm sure if you ask, they'll give it to you.

Danbury Audi has 3 or 4 A4's as loaner vehicles and I got one the last time I went in for my 20k.

    Re: "Loner" cars?

I'm trying to picture what the ultimate "loner" car would be. But I digress...

It is my understanding that AoA does not supply loaner cars, period. Look in your warranty. Audi dealerships on the other hand, can, and some do. It is (or is not, as the case may be) part of the services they provide to someone who purchases a car from them. Therefore, the type of car and whether you get one at all depends on the dealership.

My dealership charges a "Dealer Services Fee" on every Audi they sell. It includes a promise of a loaner car if you bring the car to them for service. If you take it to another dealership, you bet your balls that they won't give you a loaner.

I got an A4 when I dropped off my s4. That must have been a mistake. I didn't buy my car from the local audi dealership, so they always send me to the budget next door. Last time I got an ford escort. The first time I got an audi loaner, I totally had it APR trial period tuned.

It depends on the dealership. Usually if they have them, and you bought the car from there, they will give you one.

I guess I'll try to have someone else take it in while I'm stuck at the 9-5.

    Re: "Loaner" cars?

Yeah.. it all depends on the dealer and ppl that you know over there.

I can extremely recommmend Audi Pensk in West Covina. I didn't buy my car there but they promissed a loner car if they take more than a day to service it.

End up that I didn't need a loner car cuz they serviced my car on the same day and gave me a ride to/from work.

I'm so glad they opened this dealer right next door.

    Peace

    Re: "Loaner" cars?

Penske Audi gave me a brand new fully loaded Nissan Pathfinder with 6 miles on it! This was before they got their 'audi fleet' of loaner vehicles (don't know if they have yet or not). Anyways, I don't know what the actual policy is, but I don't think it's A8 owners only for Audi loaners. At least not at Penske, i think.

Flow Audi of Greensboro usually tries to give you the same car you already own. My mom took her A6 in and they gave her another A6, they also have Q7, A4, and A3 loaners or "courtesy cars" as it says on the back window. They all look pretty nice though.

Depends on the dealer. Our deal is if you bought the car from us and when you called to make your appointment ask for one and youll get one. As for which car you get whatever is there.

My dealership (altamonte springs, fl) gets you a car from enterprise. I believe that you can get an A3 loaner if you have a long term issue (a week or more), but I have a funny feeling that they would still send you to Enterprise anyways.

the loner is not from audi...it is the dealership who gives you the loaner. unless you bought the car from that dealership you will not get a loaner unless it is in service for like a week

    Re: "Loaner" cars?

Ok there seems to be alot of mixed interpretations but here's the low down on loaners. First these vehicles are not paid or provided by Audi, this is a dealer expense. How a person qualifies to get a loaner is entirely up to the dealer / service advisor. Say for example you have a high profile client, the service advisor will make note to have an a6 or a8 set aside. The dealership where I work at, it's pretty much a first come first serve basis. If you request to have an audi for a loaner then there's a better chance to obtain one. Of course not everyone is gonna jump into an audi loaner, imagine the cost of maintaining 50+ loaners for high volume dealers. That's where the local car rental comes in when there are no more loaners and you absolutely must have a car for yourself.

    Thanks guys.

It's a dealer provided program. Audi does not provide the loaner cars.
The dealer has to set it up. Thus, the dealer gets to make the rules.

Some dealers are cool and some are not.
I bought my BMW from a different dealer then where it was serviced and they didn't offer me a loaner, which I thought was $hitty.
For my Audi, the dealer that does the work always sets up a loaner car for me even thought I didn't buy my A4 from them.
Next purchase, which is only 2 years away, I'll likely buy from them if I go with Audi again.

I've had 3 service calls and each time I got an Audi for a loaner, 2-A4's and
1-A3. Next time I go in the SA says he'll hook me up with the new TT, and when the new A5 comes they'll have those available as well.
Some dealers use the loaners as a sales tool. That's smart.

I've gotten Audi A4 loaners plenty of times (especially recently) at Millennium Audi in Houston. I just have a 1.8T A4 so I'm not sure what this A8 talk is about..

It depends upon the dealership. I did not purchase my car from mine but have it serviced there. They provide me with a loaner when the service only takes a few hours. I've been provided an A3, A4, A6, Q5, and a VW. In fact, they apologized to me when giving me the A3 and VW. They actually had an S4 loaner, too. If you think about it, providing a better loaner than your current car is a form of marketing. I was surprised at how the Q5 performed with just the 2.0L Turbo.

I definitely think it depends on the dealership and the type of work that is being done.

I have had a dealership give me a loaner twice, both times were for service under warranty. Once I got an A3 TDI and another was a rental from Enterprise... a Mazda2, man was I happy when I got the A4 back.
