What does it mean when the Red Light that says "BRAKE" flashes? My parking brake is all the way down too. It just keeps flashing as I am driving and it beeps three times when I turn the car on.

    X2.....
I Just recently starting to see that as well, Only when I drive very aggressive it would "FLASH" and BEEP The "BRAKE" lights.

I have driven my car very aggressive before I got the Dealer I3 Reflash campaign ?? Could that be the reason?

Might be low on brake fluid so check the dipstick. Had it happen on my 02 GTI 1.8t a few times due to a leaky reservoir. You must be real low because mine would only kick in during hard acceleration (fluid would swish around in the reservoir and kick off the sensor).

    Good luck, let us know

This was happening to me. Check to make sure your brake pads are not too worn. Once I put on new pads, the light stopped flashing. Sounds like it is either low pads or low fluid (which should not be a problem unless you have a leak). Peace

Low/worn pads could cause a low fluid condition.
As the pads wear the caliper needs to push farther to apply the pad to the rotor. The extra travel results in more fluid entering the brake lines.
If you brake fluid resevoir was marginal to begin with, worn brakes can cause a warning.

Another thing is ABS. There might be something wrong with the system.
Check you manual and read what it says about the kind of light and flashing you have.

Re: What does it mean when the "BRAKE" light flashes?

I would be sure to check your pads, because as 4-tified said, low pads can cause low fluid.

This happened to me a few months back and the dealer said it was low fluid, at my next service visit they advised me that my pads were low...

there are two different icons for the fluid and the pads.
