A recomended tire size for a 18x8.5 wheel?

    for a 18x8.5 wheel....

I was looking to try and fit a 225/40 but im not so sure any more.

Lowered on Koni Coilovers. I want to be clear of any rubbing.

I know that a 235/40 is probably a safer option as far as a better fitment, but I want to see what fellow zine members are running.

I searched and didn't really find anything help full.

How much of a visual difference will there be from the 225/40 compared to the 235/40? That'd be awsome if someone had contrasting close up pictures.

    Thanks.

The front tires on my car are 225/40 on an 8.5, click the link in my sig for several angles of the fitment.

Keep in mind that I have Falken tires on my car though, and they tend to fit "skinny" so my 225's look more like a 215.

rubbing issues depend on your wheel's offset...

235/40 is good, 225/40 too narrow
I had it in mine ET35, never had any issue rubbing

We'd recommend 225/45R17 for stock ride height. 225/40R17 is about 0.6" smaller in diameter (on average), and you'd need to run the tire with a little more PSI than stock.

I ran 225/40 on my 18x8.5 arctics also w/ a 35 offset. A little too narrow for the wheels but kept a somewhat stock diameter.

225/40/18 as well on 18 x 8.5 35mm offset wheels. Pretty slammed b5 a4 on stasis CO. I would have loved to run a 235, but i would have rubbed in the front with rolled fenders.
