    Crank angle/RPM sensor on AEB?

I'm looking through my Bentley, and this is confusing... The first diagram points to the back of the motor and mentions an engine speed (RPM) sensor, but it isn't mentioned anywhere else in the AEB section.

Is this sensor on the AEB? And what is it, 60-2?

The Engine Speed sensor is located just under the oil filter and is inserted into the block. It reads off of the flywheel to determine RPMs. You have to remove it when you remove the transmission.

There is another sensor that reads the angle of the cams to determine crank position (aka. CMP). It's located on the front of the motor under the timing cover. It reads the intake cam's angle.

Hmm, so is the engine speed sensor a missing tooth setup? I know some guys on here have done Megasquirt (which is why I'm asking), but the posts I found were a bit fuzzy on the details.

Close, but it does not read off the flywheel.

There is a 60-2 gear on the crankshaft, the sensor reads off of that.

When doing Megasquirt, you tap into this sensor, but you need to set MS to use it, I think it's a VR sensor.

2nd the fact that it doesn't have anything to do with the flywheel its actually on the crank.

like John said its a 60-2 missing tooth wheel..VR sensor. You won't be using the cam sensor with MS.
