Question B7 Wheel sizes that REALLY fit ? - Post your setup here...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi folks,
I've been researching 19" wheel options for my A4 B7 Quattro for months, I've narrowed down my options but still finding it hard to establish what actually fits PROPERLY.

The majority of aftermarket wheel fitment that I've seen here and on other forums usually entails spacers, some scrubbing, excessive negative rear camber and/or undersized/illegal tyre sizes (usually stretched...).

    I want a rim/tyre package that:
    - looks hot (of course )
    - sensible, practical & hassle free, absolutely no scrubs. (If it scrubs, it doesn't fit in my books )
    - not detrimental to steering geometry & handling, (minimal offset increase)
    - 100% legal. In my state, that's: no spacers, no staggered fitment, track increase no more than 26mm, tyre load rating of at least 93, tyre OD no more than 15mm than OEM.
    - and therefore won't void my insurance in the event of a claim. (I've been stung by Dept of Transport regulations in the past - I do mods 'by the book' these days... )

    My homework so far:

Tyres for a 19" package will be 245/35/19 93Y. There are no other 19" (or 20" for that matter), that have the required load rating without exceeding the OD constraint.

Wheels will be 19x8 or 19x8.5

The only other detail to be confirmed is the offset needed to clear the front inner suspension upright. By my maths, the rims will need to be ET40-ET32 (?).

Ride height is OEM S-Line Sport. The car is my wifes daily driver so it will stay this way for some time. Perhaps a small drop at some future stage...

Sorry for the long winded explanation, if you have aftermarket wheels that:
    - don't scrub
    - don't use spacers
    - aren't staggered
    - have a tyre load index of 93 or higher
    - don't wear stretched tyres
    - don't need insane negative rear camber

    Please post 'em here:

are you at stock ride height? Makes a big difference.

I have BBS CHs in 19x8.5" et35 with 245/35-19 BFG KDWs. No spacers, no negative camber, etc. When I was stock height I did not rub at all. I do rub some in the back when loaded, with the Tracksports.

Here is pic before I was lowered:

    and now:

The wheels have over 60,000 miles on them (had them on my old Avant, too) and are still in excellent shape. I highly recommend them.

19x8 19x10 JLine 10RL2 Black Chrome with BFG kdw t/a2 235/35/19 front 265/30/19 rear. My car is lowered really low, I have the rears maxed out at negative camber to fit these tires. I did "stretch" my rear fenders a bit to make extra room. I'm only rubbing on the wheel liners due to how low I am. I will be raising the car a bit and reducing my camber soon, at that point I should not rub anymore. I was pushing to get the biggest lip possible so that's why i got 19x10

Thanks for the replies, but just to iterate - I'm after function & legal compliance 1st, looks 2nd.

    I'm after options that:
    - don't scrub
    - don't use spacers
    - aren't staggered
    - have a tyre load index of 93 or higher
    - don't wear stretched tyres
    - don't need insane negative rear camber

Re: B7 Wheel sizes that REALLY fit ? - Post your setup here...

i would get some custom rims like Iforged, HRE, JLines, DPE, etc. You can get 19x8.5 all around with a staggared offset to give the staggared look yet still retain everything you just stated of what you are looking for. These wheels just get expensive. Good luck.

    19x8 OZ Superleggera
    ET 35
235/35/19 tires... Could fit 245 if wanted to.
Alignment and balance friendly. Looks pretty damn flushed out!

I only rub because i'm way too low (tucking) But other then that, it's not a big deal because that's RARE!
But when I hit bumps, I don't rub...
The only time I rub is when i'm turning up a steep driveway and tripoding it... the fronts are rubbing just a tad bit.

Damn Outkast.... it would be so sick if we could get together for a photoshoot sometime .

    DPE R16's
    19x8.5
ET32-35 (DPE doesn't tell you their offsets )

    BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDW
    235/35/19

I rubbed quite a bit before I got corner balanced and an aggressive street set-up - with a bit more negative camber the car is a whole different animal and I only rub if I have A LOT of stuff in my car.

    Hence the camber

I have 19" Hartmann forged DTM 7-spokes' ET30 w/ Nitto Invos' (235/35). I was rubbing alot in the rear over most bumps. I then had 5mm shaved off the hub of the wheel bringing the offset to 35. Now I hardly rub at all, the only time is over large bumps with lot of stuff in my car. I am also lowered 25.5 ground to fender.

    before i shaved the hub.

    Bringing this back...

Before i pull the trigger on the VMR 710s I need advice on width of wheel and ET. I am on stock s-line suspension looking to lower it about 1 inch front and rear and want to run 245 on the fronts and 275 on the rears like my M3 and obviously trying to avoid rubbing... Help please?

Sorry. Should mention 19 inch 710s

Take a look at signature wheels postings here too. They have a fitment calculator which you can measure up from your hub and give them the info. I believe they are custom built rims so you can set them up to run exactly how you like with all your requests satisfied. They've reached out to me to buy but I cannot justify price at this time. Approx $1000/ wheel usd so nearly $7000 cdn, think the cars KBB value is about the same regardless of how much loot I have stuffed under my hood.

    Forgot to add specs

I ran Bentley Continental GT 19x9" with 235/35/19 had no rub issues except with rear passengers, at 24.75" FTG. Too heavy and blew up bearings. Replaced with 18" S4 Avus 245/40/18 added 2.5 degrees camber on all 4 and still same ride height no rub at all now and I've added spacers front and rear to make fitment look a bit better.

I ran your plan on a 2001 allroad 19x9" rotiform NUE 245/40/19 front 275/35/19 rears. On that car no issues huge wheel wells air ride plenty of room for activities. I'm hesitant it fits the b7 A4.

I don't think it's going to be possible to run 275 on the rear of a 19in wheel. People can BARELY squeeze in a 255 before it hits the spindle. It would def depend on your wheel width and offset but I don't see it happening without running on the fender.

Also be careful of how you run your tires, if both wheels are the same width you definitely won't want to run 245 on the front and 275 on the rear (if you can even fit that). These cars are AWD and we only have a tolerance of about 3% rolling diameter front to rear before the diff starts to get mad at us. You'd have to stagger the wheels pretty hard to get those two tire sizes to fit and it would probably look ridiculous to do so.

For reference I run 235/35/19 on a 19x9.5 et 35 wheel all around. It's a tight squeeze but I don't rub. On my last car I ran it a little lower and did rub when turning, so it would be hard to recommend any tire size bigger than that if you don't want to rub unless you don't want to be low

Well that's a bummer. So then I'd like the tire as fat as possible with the tire almost flush with the fender without rubbing issues on a 1 inch drop.
Sounds like 245/35/19 all the way around on 19x8.5-9 with ET35?

Sounds like 245/35/19 all the way around on 19x8.5-9 with ET35?

Hey all - I'm going to apologize up front for my lack of knowledge, but then again that's why we're here. Hoping to get some help with this:

I've got a 2.0T FWD non-sline sitting on TSW Sebring 19x8.5 et32 wheels in 245/35/19 tires. I've got stock suspension, and I was told by a mechanic with his own b7 that in order for me to lower the ride height (I'm looking towards H&R sport springs) I'm going to have to throw in some spacers to deal with the control arms in the front. I don't want to drop a bunch of money on coilovers because the car has pretty high mileage, and I just want to deal with that nasty wheel-well gap - not too worried about the extra wear on the oem shocks.

My question boils down to this: does anyone know what the fitment will be like with the above configuration and/or if i will have any issues (rubbing, clearing brakes/suspension, etc) if i were to pop in the H&R springs? If I need to make any adjustments i.e. spacers or camber, what can I expect to need to be changed? I've done tons of scraping through the forums, but I haven't found another poster with this setup - I don't know if the S-line or Quattro models have the same suspension/issues with clearance. Thanks in advance for dealing with my noob questions.

Bumping for hopeful help. My question may have been answered by the above avant's setup but I'm hoping to get some confirmation from a sedan owner or anyone else who's more knowledgeable than me in terms of differences (if any) in the suspension across these models

You will be fine with those wheel and tires specs, not sure why he mentioned you having issues with the control arms because those specs are very commonly used on the b6/b7 sedan and avant which have no differences. Those specs are actually very mild in comparison to other fitments I've seen on stock components.

This is basically exactly what your wheels will look like http://nickscarblog.com/my-b7-s4 he is running the same size wheels and offset with 245/35 tires. He is not using spacers.

Thanks brother. I really appreciate the response and the visual. I love nicks (late) s4. To confirm, I've got no issues with the stock components on this fitment - itll still be alright with the drop from the h&r sport springs?

You won't have any issues up front but might get some occasional(big bumps, going up and down steep driveways) rub in the rear depending on the tire, as not all are the same even if you have the same size from a few different manufacturers.
