What does smog pump do and is it really needed?

What is it there for other than getting in the way of my FMIC piping and TIP plumbing and can I get rid of it somehow?

IIRC, One of the things it does is it reduces the amount of warm-up time needed for your cat to start working properly on cold starts

My boostedtec intake came with a small filter that goes or the hole where the smog pump was at the bottom of the car. I bet you could find one of these filters or just call them and try to buy one. It freed up a little room.

Its not useful at all if your running a TP or if u dont care about your cat. Shawn will show you where he got the block off plate so you can pull that whole sucker out

And its purpose is to pump unmetered air into the motor so it leans out slightly and therefore heats up the cat faster

Order the EGR blockoff plate and take the shit out, its not needed!

REVO will throw a code about every month, if you dont like that get the resistor and youll never have to worry about it

But like Martini said, the resistor only tells the ECU it's there; his code was about flow, not if the pump wasn't even there.
Unless that IS the code that throws and the resistor will fix that.
I might try it. I need the room down there.

The only code that should be thrown from removing it is the "unplugged" code which the resistor will fix

FYI, the price for the block-off is cheaper at the integrated engineering place. You can get both the block-off and the resistor there for about $25.
