    piggie pipes?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
How much HP do piggie pipes give you? My car had the exhaust and chip removed an I am just wondering what the piggies add. I also have my post 02 sensor go bad where can I get one for cheap and how hard are they to replace?

    Re: piggie pipes?

i felt that doing piggy pipes was more beneficial in helping my turbos spool faster, rather than in adding horsepower... i'd say maybe 10hp?

as for your 02 sensor question, i have no idea

20 hp with a chip and 10hp without + less turbo lag and you can hear your turbo more.

    Re: piggie pipes?

They are stock down pipes that have the first set of cats gutted. They still have a set of cats so you can still pass emissions. They are the next best thing to aftermarket down pipes.

    Re: piggie pipes?

Replace your rear O2 sensors with the ones from VAST. They are top quality. It's not a tough job to do, but routing the wires is a little bit of a pain. Just make sure they clear any moving or hot parts like the driveshaft and exhaust pipes. You'll need a 21mm or 22mm open ended wrench and some zip ties. Make sure to check the existing wires for where they clip to the tranny and follow this path for the new wires. I did it on a set of ramps.

Also, just clear the codes from address 35. Nothing to worry about.

    I just added VAST Piggies.
With stock exhaust, sound is almost like stock. Catback opens it up.
Power wise, I feel a big difference in trh elow RPMS, more torque. I heard #s like 20hp and 30lbs with chip. I would say it seems a little lower but the car is a lot more responsive starting b/w 1500-2000 rpms. Can't wait to get the catback !

yeah others have done it, I mean they are the stock DPs after all! VAST just works their magic on them :)
At the time, I could not justify dumping that much cash on an exhaust that adds little HP... mostly sound. Instead I decided to put my $ toward shocks and DPs that do add power. But my shop tells me he might have APR catbacks on sale soon so........ :)

    Re: piggie pipes?

Doing Piggies, is a great idea, it opens up the exhaust, lessening the restriction on the turbos. Faster spool up....less wear and tear on the little K03's . 20-30 HP is a bit high IMO. But the little money invested will prolong the life of your turbos..... They flow so much more... the first cats are so restrictive( like a cigarette filter) I had mine done by 2001S4NY (great job, BTW) and added a MBC. I'm now running about 18-19 psi and peaking around 21psi....running great on an old T.A.P stage 2 eprom.... Pulls like a CHAMP....

    Thanks Again Greg.....

Does that write up involve any welding? Because I know that the write up on DIY Piggies on AW involves cutting open the pre cats and welding them. Is there anyway to avoid welding?

I think the writeup is for not cutting the cats.

Its harder to do it without cutting the cats but if you don't weld or have a machine then it would be the easiest choice.

IIRC 2001S4NY has a clip on his site of a borla exhaust with before & after piggies. I can hear the difference, not louder, but the tone sounds more flowing and aggressive. Piggies are on my list...
