Wanna know how much a new ECU will cost you!!

Well for future referece for those who need to replace their ECU's with a new one from Audi it costs $995. But my service rep is helping me out and is charging me $812 installed. The reason for this is because something shorted the ECU and it needs to be replaced. YAY!!!!! Oh and my warranty just went out about 4K miles ago! FOund out today and tonight my stress and sorrow for this will all come out as i will be going to TJ with friends and try to forget about this sadness.

can i take any ECU for a B6 A4 1.8T quattro and install it? I was thinking of getting a pre-loaded flashed ECU since I just got screwed over with a warranty issue. Previous owner had a flashed ECU and it messed up. Now i'm thinking I should just get a new used ECU pre-flashed by an audiziner.

you need the immo3 codes, which can be found using special ELITE tools like www.ecutool.com or by the dealer, or in my case, immo3 cloning (i have two ecu's with the same immo3 codes). The latter is probably the hardest to do for more folks.

anyways, yeh $100 is all a used ecu is worth except to those in the know :) or have buddy at dealer who can mate the ecu's
