FS: ECU and GIAC chip for 1.8T

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
GIAC 1.8T Chip with complete ECU. No fussing with pulling/mounting chips. Just plug in the ECU and go!

Chip rev is PGL30A-V03 (which I believe is what they still sell - see http://www.awetuning.com for details)

    ECU is VW/Audi part number: 8D0 907 558 M

    Fits B5 Passat (1998-1999) and B5 Audi A4 (1997-1999.5)

Chip is mounted in a socket. I do not have the original OEM chip from this ECU.

Photos of Chip and ECU available on request.

Asking $325 for the chip + ECU combo. (FYI - New chips (no ECU) from vendors sell for $400.) Paypal preferred.

Inquiries contact me at [email protected]

Re: FS: ECU and GIAC chip for 1.8T

Yeah I would be seriously interested to, but my stock ECU in my 99.5 1.8T is a 559 C. And I think you have to have the same part number to switch them.

And speaking of which, I have never heard of a 558 M? Even GIAC doesn't have it listed on their site!

    http://www.giacusa.com/programs.php?mpid=54

That's kinda strange, I would feel REALLY scared trying to switch that with my stock one.

Re: FS: ECU and GIAC chip for 1.8T

As I understand it, this ECU (558 M) should be compatible with all non-Drive-by-Wire 1.8T models.

I've done a bit of searching in the forums here, on VWVortex, and on Audiworld and this seems to be the consensus (searched for "558 AND 557 AND ECU").

That said, I'm not the expert here. You may wish to contact AWE tuning or GIAC and confirm. I don't want to sell you something that doesn't work in your application.

So this is the WHOLE ECU then? So as soon as I get it (granted it works with my car) I can just pop it into my car and go?

I am guessing it would need to be programmed for my transmission and quattro right?

Re: FS: ECU and GIAC chip for 1.8T

I do not understand the high prices on these chips on this site. Most people want over $300 with an ECU exchange. DUH- I'll just go buy an APR new from the dealer for $399 which gives me recourse if the chip fouls up. Neuspeed 1.0 ship for $249 from dealer. I'm not sure I want to trust some Audi guy who joined AZ on Feb 23, 2007.

Re: FS: ECU and GIAC chip for 1.8T

I can understand your reservations about me being new here. That's fine. I'm just looking to sell my setup.

Please note that is for the GIAC chip AND the ECU. New parts will cost well over $600, I'm selling both the ECU and chip for $325.

Like I said, I'll send pictures to those who are interested.

Please do whatever research you need to do so you are sure this setup will work for you. I don't want to sell something to somebody that won't fit their application.
