I remember this has bee talked about but the posts must have been lost.

I want to confirm that the only difference between the NGK bkr6e and bkr6e-11 plug is gap from the manufacturer? Or, am I way off.

    Thanks guys.

Yes the gap is different but.....

If you start out with a plug that is made for a 0.044 gap, you'll have to bend it inward quite a bit to get to 0.028". This will leave the ground electrode at a diagonal angle to the center electrode.

Just get a set of BKR6E and start with them. Stock number is 6962.

When I picked up the -11's (all the store had), I gapped them by pushing the side of the strap in, and pushing the end up to keep it perpendicular:

(yeah yeah - crappy pic but you get the point)

It worked fine - no signs of the strap burning out after 30K miles (or somewhere there about).

well then it just goes to show that gapping that way worked fine!!

That's 30K(ilometers) -my bad but w/e. 3-5K sounds overkill to me. Once/year is ok in my books.... and so is cleaning my air filter once/year!!

the -11's should have no problems as long as you gap them corrently.
Unfortunately, I just couldnt gap it evenly so I got the non-11's.

i know this has been covered but since this thread is here, the BKR6E are ideal plugs for the cold on just a chipped/exhaust setup correct? and the 7E's are better for warmer climates with the same mods? my plugs i have in there have been misfiring on very cold start ups when idleing.. i couldnt tell you what they are, ill check tomorrow

So here is my question: How big of a difference does new plugs make? Because recently my fuel mileage has dropped about 4mpg.

    Re: NGK bkr6e vs bkr6e-11

Fresh plugs do make a difference. After 3k miles I can start to feel a touch of hesitation and my mileage drops off slightly. After 5k miles it is quite noticeable. I've gotten into the habit of changing the plugs every time I change the oil which is every 3333 miles.

    FWIW, that -11 indicates a 1.1mm gap.
