CA people - Airport help needed :)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I need a flight from Detroit to the Palm Springs area.

The hotel site suggests Palm Springs Airport (PSP) and Ontario Airport (which google maps has decided does not exist.. but I'm sure its there somewhere). These are, apparently, not major airports.. and require a connection from Detroit.

What is the closest major airport so I can get a direct flight and just drive into Palm Springs?

    CA geography is f-ing confusing

Major would be LAX, Ontario I believe is even a little bigger than John Wayne, But the Local socal airports are LAX, John Wayne, Long Beach, and Ontario.

If you can get a flight into Ontario, that would prob be easiest. LAX is just a pain the butt to fly back out of. Ontario isn't as crowded, car rental is right outside where you pick up your baggage, and its alot closer to Palm Springs (Just Hop on the 10 East and drive). Otherwise LAX is the MAJOR airport to fly into.

Ontario is the goal, but requires a connection w/ NWA. Trying other airlines now.

    I'll figure it out. meh.

Long Beach is my favorite airport. Hassle free and it's old school where you load and disembark right on the tarmac.

Ontario is way out there, part of LAWA (Los Angeles World Airports). I agree that Long Beach is better, but like Ontario, few connecting flights. Orange County (John Wayne) is the way to go - do a little sightseeing before heading out.

Irrelevant This isn't for me. Boss is headed to a convention and I'm trying to find a balance of direct flight/minimal car travel time/correct flight times.

If I was coming to CA I'd be planning some adventures w/ AZers, not asking about airports

there's always san diego... you can then hop on the 15 to the 215 to the 60... avoids the 91 which there is no worse freeway.

san diego is the best airport i've ever been to.

palm springs is north of palm desert but they're not too far away.

it's about 2 hours from anywhere in socal, really. I drove through Julian once out to Mecca, where the USD waterski team practices/parties on occasion. There was a way we went there at it was like 3 hours from school or so but we never had traffic i think.

I dont know, i'd just fly into the airport out there. long ass drives are worse than flights.

fi comprehension is important I am saying that I will rather Puke on myself than be in the miodwest! It is important that you know self preservation is a human trait- i.e. delivering yourself to the most appropriate airport. The inability for you to make your own decisions without quering AZ "(not aruizona) TORTURES me. BTW should I buy an Rs4 or a R8. I cant make up my own mind. Hope this adds gravitas

and during the day... the 91 is bad 9 times out of 10 that i drive it. The 5 is at least doable during the day.

WTF dude. I clearly indicated the two airports that I was considering based on the research I'd done. I also looked up the travel time from various airports to the destination. Never having been to CA, I have no idea what other factors may come into play.. i.e:
    how busy the airports are
    difficultly in getting rental cars
    traffic
    various highway issues
    etc.

A 2 hour 18 min drive according to google maps could be a 90 min drive or a 5 hour drive in CA depending on local factors.

Heaven forbid that I use my resources - specifically, friends on AZ who happen to (gasp!) live in California before booking a flight. I didn't hand you a CC number and tell you to book the flight for me.

If you want to pull some holier than thou attitude on an internet forum I suggest you first learn how to form a coherent thought and type it out in proper english.

And posting some half assed follow up does not absolve you from being an idiot. If you want to say something rude, at least stand by it instead of taking it back 10 seconds later.

Did your mother not hug you as a child or something? Put down the thesaurus Italkart, we are all so glad you passed English 101, and can effectively use such a complex book. Now can you please explain why you have so much hatered for chit chat, If you noticed the section in which she asked her question, isn't really here for anything to do with Audi's other than its a branch forum of Audizine. So take your general berating, (look it up Italkart), and shut up!

lol... all of a sudden Mr. Professor can't use proper grammar. Critizise is spelled Criticize. So watch who you criticize, when you can't correctly spell it.

Spelling is the LEAST of his issues. He can't even form a complete thought, let alone figure out how to spell it.

I'm actually a bit saddened by his incoherence. It makes this arguing monumentally less entertaining. If I'm going to fight with someone, I prefer for them to at least try.
