Also if you put your key in the door and turn it your windows will roll down, as well as roll up when turned the other way.

It's mostly climate control diagnostics, but there is some engine data there. Here's an AW tech article.

You can reprogram the windows with a vag so they roll up and down with just the remote and you don't need to put the key in the door.

Yeah, when I arm my alarm and push and hold the button the second time it will close my windows and my sunroof, but I don't know if the opposite is true.

But I thought that was normal.

So will it open the windows to where they were previously, or all the way?

I guess I should try since I never have ........

Re: Easter Eggs...Features Not In The Manual

here is the trick to unlocking the "secret EQ"

To access the EQ all you have to do is turn off your car and remove the key. Then hold down the number '5' on your CD changer/Radio preset control and power on the head unit.

You will see '55555555' if your radio is in stock form. These numbers represent 4 EQ settings each for front and back. They are, in order from left to right (courtesy of LCP on the AudiWorld forums):

    1. Front low bass
    2. Front mid bass
    3. Front midrange
    4. Front treble
    5. Rear low bass
    6. Rear mid bass
    7. Rear midrange
    8. Rear treble

To adjust the settings, use your volume knob to change the flashing digit to a value from 1 to 9 (1 being the lowest level, 9 being the highest) and press P.SCAN to go to the next digit. When you get to the end it will wrap back to the first digit.

The most popular settings for bose seem to be 88698869, however after a bit of testing with my favorite music, I found that to sound boomy and hollow and have since gone with 76567656. My next task will be to increase the directional (midrange and treble) sound on the front speakers only to bring the Bose sound stage back towards the front without sacrificing bass out of my rear speakers.

The best setting that I have heard for the non-bose system is 38679657. It still doesn't sound like bose, and certainly not like a good after-market setup, but it's a major improvement for those that wish a simple change to improve their overall sound and reduce distortion.

VAG-COM tricks to make your windows roll up with the key fob, One touch unlock of all 4 doors and trunk, Auto lock/unlock of doors, and other things

    Recode locking options

    [Select]
    [35 - Cent. Locks]
    [Recode - 07]
    Enter the coding below
    [Do It!]

Write down the existing coding for future reference.

A4 pre-1998 with Delta radio and anti-theft system
    Standard Coding: 03468

A4 pre-1998 with Delta radio, anti-theft system and keyless entry
    Standard Coding: 12172

    A4 1998+ with Concert/Symphony radio and anti-theft system
    Standard Coding: 03340

    S4, A4 1998+ with Concert/Symphony radio, anti-theft system and keyless entry
    Standard Coding: 16140

Add the following options to your coding number:

+64 Windows up, sunroof close, and windows down with remote.
-04 One touch unlock of all 4 doors and trunk
-1024 Remove horn honk when arming
+32 Auto lock/unlock of doors (Doors lock at 10 mph and unlock when key is removed)

So, if you want to have a 1999 A4 with Concert radio and anti-theft system and keyless entry, and you want to add window control with the remote along with auto-lock, then:
    add 03340+64+32= 03436

Re: Easter Eggs...Features Not In The Manual

well this is mostly a DIY'er but it's not in the manual so ill put it up here so we can build this thing

    Increasing the Remote Unlocking Range

Relocate the antenna that comes out of the box under the rear seat, and thread it up the back of the rear fold down seat. Between the carpeted backing and the seat cushion material. Then across the top a tiny bit so it forms an inverted L shape. The antenna is BLACK and is only attached on one end to the remote locking module.

What does this do.... Gives a HUGE range on what was previously believed to be a shitty remote. Its not the parts.... its the poor installation of them. That antenna is used for Frequency Modulation reception, FM is line of site, Line of site doesn't mean Superman's X-ray vision, RF signals don't travel through sheet metal too well. So the antenna being under the rear seat, and atop the gas tank and behind the trunk lid and doors, DOESN'T HELP.

torx bolt? where lol it just came off without removing a bolt? Sorry, never really worked on the interior of a car before I've always hovered around body and drivetrain.

Having trouble finding the antenna could someone circle where it is and repost the image? Or hell just describe where.

Re: Easter Eggs...Features Not In The Manual

    there's like a million things.

    1. program windows to open with just the remote.

    2. climatronic can display up to 65 features. some are RPM's, KM, oil temp, etc. You can even check engine codes

    3. You can add more bass to your bose system by holding down 5 and the power button, then changing the setting to 88698869.

    4. The interior lights turn on like in an airplane. First the guages, then the radio, then the other lights.

    5. Press the RDS button and it displays the names of songs from the radio.

There's so much more to list. Just search and a few will come up. Also, check AW.

more bass? okay so i hold down 5 and the power button. on my stereo the power button is the volume knob right in the middle. i'm assuming that's what your talking about. but what setting do you change? will it be so much bass that my interior speakers will blow?

i thought you held scan, or RDS AND 5 and turned the power on? i used the hidden EQ on my car and thast what i did.

if you leave your windows open and get out of the car put your key in the car door turn and hold and your windows come up and your alarm sets.......

    1. To adjust the bose, it's didfferent depending on the model A4 you have. I have a 2000 and it's 5 and the power button, holding 5 first. For previous models, I believe it's the P.SCAN button. Holding down P. SCAN and a number. Some of these features are in your owners manual. We have speed seensitive voulme control with out

    2. You will not need a control module to program the keyless windows. You need the right code and a VAG.

    3. If you have the premuim package in your A4 and you have auto mirror dimming. Your rear and side view mirrors turn green at night if there is a bright beam.

    4. We have speed sensitive voulme control with our cars.

Just go to AW's tech section, there's tons of stuff in there

One touch up and down? If so, someone already did the 'mod'. It's a very easy thing to do. Just take off the rear door panels and put a jumper (a figure 8 strand of wire worked for me) between two posts. I know the tech article is on AW. Someone should do a write up and let Anth post it here.

    Later,
    Mike

    http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int6.shtml

    1. Some cars have gas caps that are not connected to the body, the caps have a notch cut in them that allows you to hook the cap onto the gas door while fueling.

    2. Once the ambient air temp drops below 41F, a snowflake displays next to the outside air temp to warn you of road icing temps. (This is more of a suprise for the warm climate people)

    3. The A/C system will automatically shut down the A/C compressor once the outside air temp drops below 35F. This sucks if you're driving in above freezing temps and it raining.

    4. In the trunk, beside the spare tire well is a tag that lists every option and feature on your car.

    5. The Concert radio only powers the front speakers. The rear speakers have an amplifier that is bolted to the driver's rear speaker.

    6. Activating the rear fog light automatically enables the front fog lights.

    7. The dual rear fog mod makes your car look like the brake lamps in your tail lights are always on. Very confusing for people following you.

    8. The audi dealership usually charges $40 to cut a switchblade key blank. The VW dealerships usually charge $10 for the same thing. (More of a secret for all Audis)

    9. If you open only your sunroof all the way open it may cause a fluttering sound from the air pressure in the car. Turn the knob back one click and it will go away.

    10. Every piece of moving glass in your car has pinch protection, even the sunroof. (I tried it)

    noticed this last night...

At night, when your lights are on and windows are down, if the driver pulls up any window other than his...the illumination light on the window switch for that door will turn off....

Nevermind, I tryed the A/C windshield demister thing this morning at about 29 degrees, and the A/C does NOT come on when I press the windshield demister button. I stand corrected...by my self.

No, you should be able to adjust the GALA settings. I have it on my 99 (pre-facelift). Instructions are in the manual.

With the car unlocked, best noticed at night, if u open the drivers door, the dome light under the dash that lights up the pedals/floor,carpet etc.. lights up, and the passengers light stays off. Opposite if u open the passenger side, the light turns on and with the drivers side shut, that light will be off.. FOUND OUT LAST WEEK lol

When i first noticed this i thought the passenger bulb was out and i had to pick up a new bulb to put in. Later that night i went to get something out of my glove box and then saw the driver side wasnt on and got really confused and thought that i just remembered the wrong bulb being out. then realized it when i went and opened the driver door to see what kind of bulb it was. What a useless feature this is . . .

First advailable in 1997 The All Weather package includes heated front seats, heated drivers door lock, outside heated mirrors and heated windshield washer nozzles.
The heating element in the lock cylinderis activated by breifly pulling on the door handle. The heating element operates at outside temperatures below 41 F (+5 C) The element stays on for a predetermined period which is controlled automatically according to the outside temperature, but not longer than 50 seconds. It is not possible to extend this period by pulling the door handle continuously, but can be reactivated by pulling the door handle again

it turns off the motion sensor inside car if you lock the car and have a kid/pet/etc in the car. (it is off when the little red light on button is on).

If.......when you need to get flatbedded, don't let the towtruck driver hook your car by the axels. Instead, pull off the foglight grills and show him the towhooks.

For those people wondering about relocation the remote antenna I read about that thing too and I had the same problem. I figured it out and wrote a little DIY on the Fourtitude forums.

No idea if this is in the manual... but anytime if you just turn off and then on the radio, it will turn on. Even if the key is out... even if doors are locked. I found this feature pretty cool.

P.S. the radio will shut off when the battery gets to low. Found this out while waxing my car. It left plenty though for starting it up again. :)

Also, thanks to those who posted the Vag-Com stuff... got my 1 click unlock done :).

I believe it just shuts itself off after an hour.... you sure it has to do with the juice remaining in your battery? That would be cool cause I dont know if mine would last an hour (with subs and all)... So I never leave it on that long

Ah, it could be timed too, didn't think of that. I just know that when mine did end up shutting off my lights were pretty dim when I turned them on, so I just figured it was the battery.

Looking for info on how to crack a Symphony stereo in my '00. I bought a used one to replace my original, but I do not have an unlock code. Will a VAG-COM help here? I have access to one, but no codes to get the Bose to come off of safe mode.

-If you roll up any passenger's window from the drivers door, while you are holding the button the light for that doors window switch will turn off.

-When you turn the dome light on, everything that illuminates brightens. When you turn the dome light off, the illumination slowly darkens a bit.

-*For Concert I* Pressing and holding FM2 while turning on the radio makes the radio show "GALA." By pressing FM2 you can scroll through some menus that does crazy stuff that I havent figured out like "NAV," "VOL," and some other things.

-*For Concert I* Pressing and holding the button "2" while turning on the radio puts it into some other crazy GALA mode that I cant figure out.
