    Motul RBF600 vs Motul 5.1

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was fixing to order some RBF 600 but i had read one post on here awhile back that said it easily absorbed moisture and needed frequent flushing.. while shopping online one site selling 600 and 5.1 side by side said the rbf 600 was recommended only for racing because it easily absorbed moisture..

anyhow any thoughts before i order?... i dont track it but everyone points to my fluid/air as my problems so i dont want to cheap out on $15 less for a fluid flush thats not as good.. i do drive pretty hard sometimes through the hills although that doesnt even compare to track conditions

RBF600 will require flushing more often. It is a great race fluid, but it does have a tendency to absorb more water and will nessitate bleeding more ofter. Then again most people that race bleed their brakes almost every time to the track. You should be fine with the Motul 5.1 and flush it every other year. You can also use the Pentosyn Super DOT fluid, it is a good high quality all around fluid.

With RBF600, you'll need to flush it once a year. With the 5.1, you can flush it every other year like all other DOT 4 brake fluids.

I've used both on my race Ducati and can not tell a difference in brake feel or fade. The boiling point on the 5.1 is still higher than you'll ever see on your street car.

Youve obviously not been at Willow Springs/Buttonwillow/Thunderhill when it is 105 degrees out..and your driving hard around a track in a heavy Audi.

As an alternative, you can get Castrol SRF. It is even better than Motul RBF600. Beeing a race fluid, it also needs changing once a year.
