yes, look on the side of the radio, you can push in a little button that releases the radio removal key. you have to push it in all the way though and the key will come out easily.

    Hi Guys,

Sorry for necro thread... but I can't get my radio keys out of my unit, and I can't find the "button" described here. My radio is just hanging out until I can get the keys out. Please help!

All you had to do was take the radio out and push on the springs to release the keys. Then you push the radio back into the console and it locks back into place.

Yeah, I had the radio out and tried to push on the metal springs but they were already pressed all the way against the wall of the unit with the radio keys in; there was simply no more push to them but the keys were still locked in. I studied it for a while and it appears to be a very simple mechanisms but since this was a German-(over)engineered part, I thought that there may actually have been a button that I was completely missing so I figured I would check here first before applying brute force.

I believe the cause of the problem was that the crappy eBay keys I bought were not cut very well and it was basically jammed. Since there have been others with this problem and general question of radio key operation, I have drawn a diagram to assist.

    1) Without the radio key inserted, the 4 metal springs are out and thus, the radio is locked into place.
    2) With the radio key in, the springs are retracted, freeing the radio and can be pulled out.
    3) Once the radio is out, the springs should still have some space to be pushed in further; this will push the pin past the key grove, thus freeing the key. This should be done BEFORE the radio is to be placed back.
    4) If your key is stuck inside the radio and the is no more pushed in the spring, you can remove the key by inserting a flat-head screwdriver underneath the key and push up; this will lift the key over the pin, allowing you to pull the key out.

I Wasn't very smart about this. I have a B5 S4 with a syphony I radio. I put my radio back in with the ebay keys still in. I can't pull the keys or the radio back out. I'm angry.

Can anyone help me? or will i have to drive around with 4 keys in my f***ing radio?
