    Carbon Cleaning Pricing?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,
Injectors are going bad on my car so I decided to get them replaced, since they were already going to have the intake manifold off I requested a carbon cleaning of the intake. The shop quoted $100 a cylinder in addition to the labor for injectors. I thought that it only takes a couple minutes per cylinder with a walnut blaster? Should I find a different shop?

I had mine done in 2021. They charged me 6 hours of labor at $115/per + a few bucks for replacement gaskets.

Offhand that doesn't sound bad, but knowing the whole estimate price (injectors and carbon clean) would help.

I’m a little confused. Are you supplying the injectors? (and control arms?)

Yeah, went with Meyle HD control arms and Bosch injectors. I always buy parts from fcpeuro, the injectors will get warrantied out as I already replaced them at 60-70k. I had the mechanic do an inspection during my last oil change and under the borescope the injectors appeared to be clogged.

I usually work on my car myself but am at college and don’t have a garage or tools to get work done.

I just think the carbon cleaning price is ridiculous as it seems they don’t charge labor?

Ok got it. So the injector removal labor plus the blasting labor is pretty close to a typical carbon cleaning service because they need to remove and reseal the injectors anyway. The total you've shown for that is $907.50. (The added IM gasket is a toss up). So $900 is toward the high end for an indy. I think my shop charges about $600 for this. Here’s a couple other (higher) price references:
