    Hi

I have an Audi Q5 s-line with 2.0 TFSI engine which failed duo to oil entered the combustion champer.

I need your recommendations on a replacement used engine, do i get same year engine or i can use newer engine versions which are more reliable that can work on the car without issues?

Following as I'm curious about this as well. I would assume it's better to use the same engine code, but idk what would happen if you were to user a newer one.

I'm currently rebuilding a CAEB and was previously contemplating picking up another engine on carpart.

For 2010 youd want to try and find the same engine generation. Up to about 2013. You had 2 engine codes for your year, CpMA and CAEB. CPMA was the flex fuel one with the aluminum intake manifold. I did use a later year CPMB (2015) engine in a 2012 Q5 and had to swap over the crank position sensor, aux water pump and a few vacuum lines from the old engine to the new one.

One thing to keep in mind, the later models still suffered from oil consumption due to a bad piston ring design. If you are going with a replacement engine you should plan on replacing pistons and the timing chains since it is out.
