Audi A3 8V pre sense currently limited

Light came on that Audi pre sense is currently limited. It also showed up once that it was due to “sensor view limited due to surroundings.” I cleaned the ACC sensor in the front bumper, as there was heavy pollen and then rain, so the car was coated. After that, the “due to surroundings” message went away, and now it’s just the same “Audi pre sense is currently limited” warning.

I scanned the car, and it showed no active fault codes. I did recently install a charge pipe, intercooler, and a tune with APR. Car runs amazing—just have the warning on a small part of the dash. It’s the same warning that shows if I were to turn ESC off.

There was a period where I had the front wheels off on the lift and put the car in accessory mode after reconnecting the battery. The car was not the happiest about that. I put the wheels on, drove it maybe 10 feet, and all the lights went away.

The only thing is I can’t remember if the pre sense warning was on the day we did all the work and tuned it, and then on my drive home. I want to say it wasn’t on, because after all that work I was paying very close attention to any codes or anything wrong with the car. It wasn’t until the following morning that I noticed the Audi pre sense light.

I’ve looked up other discussions on pre sense, and it seems like it can be a bit of a pain—so this could totally be a coincidence. But I just wanted to see if I could try something to get it resolved. It’s not flashing or annoying, and it doesn’t seem to limit anything with the car, but I figured I might as well try to figure it out.

I’ll give you a few reasons why I’ve gotten that message:
    - disconnecting and reconnecting the battery
    - the sensors are dirty
    - the camera on the rear view mirror is dirty
    - gps, it disconnects on the exact spot every time
    - buggy
    - I don’t remember if the emissions sensor on the turbo elbow threw me the pre sense or just sos

Usually it goes after a few miles or by turning the car off and opening the door.

Welcome to random bugs in the pre sense

Check the sensor values: horizontal and vertical - both set and actual. If there is a difference between set and actual more than a degree it will throw an error. Mine did whn I changed the wheel and tires from 225/45/17 to 225/45/18. I had to adjust the vertical position a little.

Would any scanner be able to tell me the horizontal and vertical values? I have seen the front scanner at the bottom of the bumper has 4 screws to adjust it as well there is also a mount I have that moves it to fit an aftermarket grill that I have. As well as I have 255/30/20 tires. I haven’t had it make a fit before even when the tires and grill was changed but I will definitely give it a try.

From what I have heard I have been pretty lucky up to this moment not having any issues with the system. I have a couple things to try I think first will be giving the car a thorough wash.

That's exactly what happened with mine. I installed rs3 grille, added different bracket for that sensor and the car threw an error. I had to adjust only the vertical - top left as you are facing the car. VagCom will give you the values. OBD11 too. I'm not sure of other scanners.
