    How to Remove Fuel Filter?

    I’ve watched SEVERAL DIYs on the B6 A4 FF replacement and have been given multiple answers as to how to remove these filters….

    1) Quick Release: squeeze clips and push in to remove; has not worked
    2) Use Flathead to slide clips back and then pull to remove; has only broken the clips
    3) Specialty tool: nobody wants those
    4) Squeeze with needle nose, push in, and remove; my needle nose are just eating these fasteners

    What is the ACTUAL method for removal outside of a specialty tool?

    For that type of connector, you have it reversed in number 1. You have to push in first then squeeze the two tabs and while pushing the connector in, pull out on the tabs, then pull out on the entire connector. It may not work now if you’ve damaged them. You can practice on the fuel pump hat. There may be that kind of connector on those. Once you get the hang of it, then try on the one below. Someone destroyed one on a customer’s car but I was able to take the broken part out, the actual part that moves and locks the connector on and take it from another parts car and pop it in to make the original connector work again.

    Yup, I figured it out maybe 5 minutes after posting this lol I have one that only has a C clip on one side (picture 2, black clip) that’s being a PITA and won’t come off.

    That's the easier one. You push IN on the white part (c clip looking part) and then pull out the connector.

    It’s always the easy ones that are the hardest lol I fought with the the black clip one for a solid 15 minutes, must’ve been lodged full of dirt around the seat of the connector.

    Don't feel bad. I did the exact same thing to the one on my fuel pump lid years ago. It just wouldn't come off. I have to take a break and then all of a sudden it popped off just like that.
