I never imagined putting this car up for sale, but I have a line on a 997 C4S that the wife has given me permission to buy if I let this one go. I’m 50 now, so the dream car is finally within reach.
Well loved and cared for 2010 Audi A4 Avant White/Beige/Auto/165k two owner miles. Clear title, no accidents. We bought the car 8 years ago from the original owners who commuted back and forth from NY to Fla and kept meticulous records, as have we. The lower engine ‘common oil consumption” rebuild was done by the dealer at 75k (documented). At 150k I went out in the morning to start the car and it did the much feared ‘long crank’ so I took the key out immediately. I removed the timing covers to find that a plastic guide had a crack in it (see pic). Rather than patch things up with a new chain and guides, I pulled the head to confirm no piston damage (there wasn’t) and so I took the opportunity to disassemble, clean, and completely refresh the head with all new valves and seals. I replaced the rockers also, because why not. I then decided I may as well ‘do it all’ while I had it apart, so I installed a new K04 with Mellett CHRA, HFC, FMIC, hard charge pipe/intake muffler bypass, silicone hoses, S3 injectors, HPFP, water pump, and pretty much any wear item I could think of. I then acquired a HPTuners platform and had Tyler Ward at Ward Performance Tuning dial everything in. Tyler estimates 400ish bhp (320ish awhp), and I can tell you that it is all of that and then some. It just keeps pulling and pulling. There is no let up. Not a bad grocery getter! (The HPTuners interface will come with the car.)
I have all parts purchase records available via FCP Euro, ECS, Amazon, and wherever.
Aesthetically, the car is nice but not perfect. About three years into ownership, a lady at a CVS bumped into the driver’s front fender while she was parking. It left a ‘fold/ding’ over the wheel that annoyed me so I replaced it with a (perfectly matching) fender I bought from Lifetime Audi in Durham. I am not the best body guy, so it could use a tad better alignment if you’re hell bent on perfection. I still have the old fender for you to see/take with you. New one also has the S-line emblem on it which I left but is easily removed.
About three years ago, I had noisy kids in the car and I backed the car into the garage door (from inside the garage :D). There are a few blemishes on the back bumper and hatch where the rear emblem goes. PDR/paint correction could fix the hatch pretty easily and the bumper could be either touched up or resprayed, depending on your tolerance levels. The garage door took most of the damage.
The front of the car has a carbon lip, rs4 grill with carbon emblem, new headlight lenses with amber side lens delete, and yellow fogs. Has the usual chips, etc from a 165k car, but not horrible at all.
The rear has gloss black rear diffuser, carbon tail pipes, carbon RS4 upper fairing, and carbon antenna cover. I tried to plastidip the roof rails but I’m not the best at that kind of thing so it only looks ‘decent’. Your attempt would be better I’m sure.
Wheels are 19” ECS Alzor RS4 reps with Pirelli PZero tires. ECS 20mm rear spacers.
Brakes are A7 F/S4 R calipers with cross drilled Brembo rotors. I rebuilt them (seals/hardware) and painted before install and I think they look and feel pretty good.
Interior is standard beige A4 interior in pretty good shape. I installed RS-Nav and hardwired a radar detector and magnet charger, all of which will remain.
Parts that come with that I haven’t gotten around to yet – brand new uninstalled Vogtland coils (the correct part number for wagons), new strut mounts and hardware, new upper control arm bushings, and a new hub and bearing assembly (passenger front has 1 stripped lug hole). Also have the ECS carbon side blades that will come with.
Issues: There is an ‘ignition control malfunction’ that has alerted since I installed the RS NAV. I replaced the ignition switch to no avail. I imagine it is the connector on the passenger side of the car that needs attention (either reconnected, replaced, or repinned). I have not had time to dig into it. It doesn’t affect starting or drivability in any way.
In short, what you are getting is a well sorted, reliably tuned car with all the good stuff either done or with the parts on hand (suspension). Only thing aesthetically that I was going to add was to eventually obtain a S4 interior from Lifetime Audi and install it. But alas, the C4S calls.
Price: $10,500. No trades. Will not sell parts separately. Car is near Charlotte, NC. Not sure I can receive IMs on here, so please reach out to [email protected] with any inquiries. Come get it!
