    Backup camera questions for audi a4 2009

    i looked into getting a backup camera and do i need a decoder to install it without having any the backup camera itself?

    You'll have to be more specific. You need a camera on the rear lid. You need a display on the dash. You need whatever you need to interface whatever camera you put on the rear lid with whatever display you put on the dash.

    If you're attempting a factory config, you'll need the OE camera unit, the OE camera control module, and the FAKRA cable between those two, and between the camera control module and (from your other thread) Symphony radio unit.

    But if you're retrofitting an aftermarket Carplay screen, that unit might have its own backup camera interface (often just generic yellow composite video) and you'd need an aftermarket camera unit that with composite output. But there will be no steering angle lines on the display.
