Has anybody here ever tried the aluminum oil filter housings? They are available on Ebay and Amazon. I bought a uroparts one and it keeps leaking at the cap unless I tighten it FAR past where it should be. It’s not leaking at the moment cause it’s tight enough but it’s to the point where it’s flexing under the torque and I’m afraid it’s going to break on me during a service. It has to be about 45 ft lb before it doesn’t leak.

You sure you have both orings on there? What’s wrong with the factory cover that goes with the oil filter housing? I never understood why anyone would want to put a metal one on which could get even hotter due to where the exhaust is in proximity to it and having rising radiant heat on it. Doesn’t make sense. Also, something to keep in mine, the aluminum ones will have a screw that keep that center channel basket in place and if you lose that or it comes loose when it’s running, you got problems. I don’t trust locktight that much, ya know what I mean…

This is the actual housing I’m referring to. It still uses the plastic factory caps.

Oh, I gotcha. I thought you meant the tops that are all aluminum.

URO parts was nothing but crap for me. All the plastic parts were always 1mm different in size for mating faces or couplings so I'm pretty sure that's your issue. Id buy an aluminum one as it looks pretty well engineered as a replacement but again its not oem from audi so id be weary of the quality.
sorry thats not better help.
