Factory hitch is available and will tow the full capacity but it is somewhat limited by the tongue weight. This means for towing heavier items you want a lightweight trailer and to balance the load properly. Obviously trailer brakes are certainly advised and there are some nice wireless systems that can be installed. Note that the ball is 50mm ball which in experience works with 2" trailers with a bit of a tighten on the latching mechanism and can also obviously be run with a 50mm EU style tongue as well.

There's a fair number of RS6 and A6 allroad owners in North America now running these. Even '24+ models which have become a bit of a pain to get sorted coding wise.
