Have had a 2020 SQ5 w/ sport pack a few months now and I'm getting what I'm guessing is the "quattro rumble" at low speed, hard over turning. It is more noticeable when the engine is cold and backing out of the driveway, but seems to almost completely go away once completely warmed up. Seems like the "go-to" fix is a fluid change on the center diff. Any input is much appreciated.

SQ5 3.0T uses the 2nd gen 8-speed ZF transmission with a proper Torsen center diff; Audi terms it the type 0D5. Not a 7-speed DCT with the quattro ultra junk like the Q5 2.0T; Audi terms that the type 0CJ.
You'll want to check B9 S4 and B9 S5 as well as B9 SQ5 threads for relatable info. But not B9 A4 or B9 A5 or B9 Q5 threads; they all have quattro ultra (mostly, MY17 A4 "45" and MY18 A4/A5 "45" were DCT with Torsen, the type 0CL).
As for the issue itself, nothing to offer offhand. I've recently started to notice some "rumble" as you might term it when I'm reversing and turning. But I have no reason to relate it to the center diff any more than to the trans, the front or rear diff, the cardan shaft, the axles, etc.
Interesting that the 4M Q7 seems to have a thread going on the topic, where the transmission would be the 0D5 with Torsen. https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q7-mkii-discussion-211/quattro-rumble-3003251/ Maybe something with the heavier vehicles? Not seen it brought up, that I've noticed, in the S4/S5 forums, which use the same 0D5.

2019 SQ5, about 30k miles, I also have the rumble on tight parking lot maneuvers. I was under the impression it was a characteristic of the quattro system. Not particularly concerned about it but it woild be nice to not have.

Thanks for the info! I wasn't certain if it was a Torsen unit, so thanks for that too. I did see the Q7 TSB that stated to replace the center diff fluid, hence the reason I mentioned it. I'm going to get the center diff fluid changed and see if it fixes it. I guess worse case waste some money, best case it fixes it and I can pass on the info. Thanks again!

This is me. I noticed it when I started DD my SQ5 from my X5, but read it was a Quattro deal and just tune it out and mostly don't notice it now.

I hear both sides, some say its normal and some say its an issue. I'm going to talk to the technician first and get their take. Like I mentioned, I guess worst case my center diff will be fluid will be fresh

Update the thread after - I'd love to hear what they say!

That's the TSB, only for the type 4M vehicles. Stating only a noise issue, center diff oil change can be attempted. I noticed in one post of service work, they even replaced the actual center diff (0BL 409 755 E).
I wonder if this is something new with that revision of center diff. As it seems it might not be specific to the heavy vehicles if SQ5 people are noticing the same. Note, the Mk1 Q7, type 4L, used an Aisin transmission with an external transfer box. The use of the ZF transmission with integrated center diff was new for the type 4M, Mk2 Q7 (so new to use with that weight of vehicle, but the ZF with integrated center diff goes back 10+ years before that in the cars, including every B8 Q5 sold in the US).
With the second generation of the 8-speed ZF (type 0B5 and more torque handling type 0B6, replacing the gen 1 type 0BK and more torque handling type 0BL), the center diff was consolidated to a new center diff, the 0BL 409 755 E. So this is the center diff in all 0D5/0D6 installations in the US, afaik.
I also notice the higher torque 0D6 applications (4.0T in the 4M Q7/Q8, D5 A8, C8 A6/A7) having been dumping this center diff for a new one, 0D6 409 755 A, during calendar 2023. The 4M changing to it this month according to the parts catalog.
Could just be a razor thin margin of tolerances in no doubt cost cut (I mean "optimized") components bleeding through the NVH envelope more frequently with the current era of production quality. Closest thing to the weight/size of the Q7 would be the A8. Wonder if the A8 people are having this same concern.

Bit of an update....I took it to Audi and they serviced the center diff under warranty and said if it doesn't go away in 600 miles to bring it back and they'll probably just replace the center diff. After 20 miles it seems to have quieted down, but we'll see after a cold start in the morning.

I ended up having all of my diff fluids changed (21 SQ5 w/ S Sport) I used Ravenol fluids for all the diffs except the front. Fluids were pretty dirty, but I’ve noticed zero difference in Quattro rumble, mine was used with 41k miles it now has 48k miles, fluids done at around 43k miles.

Here's an interesting data point, after changing from summer wheels/tires (OEM 20" setup) to winter rims that are 20x9.5 ET35 with 255/45/20, the rumble is gone. The winter wheel setup is flush with the fenders. I'm guessing the change in scrub radius has something to do with it.

More likely the change in tread compound/pattern than a simple 4mm of scrub radius change. But could be a combination of all three factors.

I have started to notice this too. I was thinking it was wheel / tire related. I haven't rotated my tires or gotten a wheel alignment in a little bit. I am going to so this my next trip for an oil change at the dealer. 20' SQ5 prestige w/ sport package

FWIW, ours went away after a full diff and trans service. No change to wheels/tires.
