View Full Version : Replacing damaged front struts on a coilover kit?

I recently redid the suspension on my 2011 A4 Avant, and as part of it I added ECS coilovers. The installer made a mistake in not cutting the front holes to access the dampening control on the strut. It damaged the front struts to the point they creak and rattle.

Rather than just replace the front struts, ECS sent an entire kit as a replacement. As a result, I have the entire brand new ECS Coilover kit (minus the front struts) sitting in the garage. Fast forward to yesterday - I bought a white 2012 A4 Avant to complement my black 2011. I'd like to use the spare ECS coilover kit on the 2012 but would need a replacement for the front struts. ECS does not sell them separately.

Are there any options for me to use this ECS kit with different front struts, coilovers or spring/strut combo? The 2012 is high miles and isn't going to be modded to the extent the 2011 is, but if I can make use of this spare ECS kit, I'd love to.

Here is the kit - https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...025412ecs01~a/

Any advice??

You may be able to order the Bilstein B4 Sport front shock and pop the spring perch off and then put your adjustable coil over spring perch on the B4 shock? Just a suggestion but you would need to research further.
I put ABT H.A.S. Spring kit on my B9 SQ5 and it uses the factory shocks and for front you just replace lower spring perch with their adjustable collar with spring perch

Thanks for the reply. That would be a great solution.

Does anyone know if this would work?
