Or anti-roll bars as they are here.

I find that pushing on through the corners produces some roll.
I don't know about the dynamics of the 8Y chassis enough yet to decide whether this roll is a hindrance or not, but just wondered if anyone had upgraded the bars (front or back).

I'm talking about road not track, so understeer is not an issue at these speeds.

Revulike,

While I don’t have experience with the 8Y specifically, body roll is the same for most cars.

Replacing or upgrading your shocks will help with body roll on tight back/forth corners.
Upgrading your sway bar or replacing your sway bar bushings (if they are worn) will help with body roll on long, sweeping corners.

How do your shocks feel? If your shocks feel tight (no oscillating or undulating after a bump), I would recommend replacing the front sway bar with something stiffer.
People here will say “upgrade the rear bar”, but since you aren’t having a problem with understeer, the front bar will make a more visceral difference in reducing body roll and should make you happy.

If your shocks/struts are original, they are probably shot by now. New shocks will make a huge difference. Try Bilstein B6 or B8 as a solid upgrade.

The car is under 2 years old and shocks feel fine.

The corners I’m talking about are generally short, rapid changes, like on twisty roads.

I’ve heard the argument for rear over front sway bars. Even with ESC on full, the 8y S3 will start to rotate slightly if pushed, and I’ve not noticed under steer to any degree.

Thanks for the sage advice.

MK7R S3 8V & 8Y S3 use a lot of the same component

I'm lowered on Racingline Spring and I'm running a classic Superpro combo:
Front 26MM adjustable swaybar
Rear 24MM adjustable swaybar
SuperPro Adjustable Front Sway Bar End Links
SuperPro HD Rear Sway Bar End Links

I'm also running other Racingline goodies to increase the overall car rigidity.

I'm really happy with the result, the car stiffer and planted but the stock tire is the limiting factor.

Next year I'm gonna fit a new set of tires: Michelin PS5S/Goodyear eagle f1 supercar 3 /Continental PremiumContact 7 in 245 instead of my 235.

I'm lowered on Racingline Spring and I'm running a classic Superpro combo:So, you just replaced the springs and kept the adaptive shock absorbers? How's the ride? Your car looks low, any bottoming?

Kept the MAG ride shocks and installed APR springs.

Whoops, sorry, I thought the 8Y was the earlier version not the newer one.

As a driver you will feel the effect of the front sway bar more than the rear one, but it will increase the cars tendency towards understeer and it is more difficult to install than the rear bar.
Stiffer springs and shocks will also reduce your body roll. The stiffer shocks have the added benefit of reducing roll on quick transitions, before the springs/sway bar can produce a countering force.

Yes Oem Shocks with Racingline springs. The ride is pretty good, less bouncy than my previous RS3 and mk7R both with H&R springs.

The ride height is perfect no bottoming or rubbing. I can enter in my fairly steep driveway and I even run the car in Quebec winter with my maxton front lip. You just have to be a little bit more carful...Underground city parking are lip killer.

cool thanks.

i was wondering what it takes to get the wheels under the fender.
some people still poke with et45. they are running 19x9.0 or even 19x9.5 with et45.
i prefer if I can get inside the fender a little. i would probably say I would need to get it more camber if I go with a wider wheel. i am still considering 18x9.0 or 18x9.5 et??

Here in the UK, the road surface has now become a significant factor in almost all journeys.
Many main roads are looking like this:

I've kept the 225/40/18 wheels for that reason, and I wouldn't want the suspension any harder or lower.
