The Nexar One is a great dashcam, has LTE connectivity and you can do hardwire or Obd power.

Second Nexar. I don't have the "One," but have other cheaper models in all my vehicles. Software integration is top notch!

Another choice I haven't seen mentioned, the Genuine Audi Universal Traffic Recorder (UTR).
The recently introduced Gen II device features a variety of updates compared to its predecessor (Gen I).
More info on it, here (https://www.partsbytopher.com/products/genuine-audi-universal-traffic-recorder-kit-utr-generation-2?_pos=2&_sid=6b22a02c6&_ss=r).

After watching a few youtube videos on this, taking everything into consideration, price, oem look etc I think i may just get this one. Thank you!
Just brought one of these myself and installed in my RS5.
Install was reasonably simple, if a bit fiddley for someone with larger hands, but it is genuinely as simple as prizing away the shrouding from around your mirror, unplugging a single cable, plugging the camera into that cable and the other end back into the plug you just disconnected and then sliding the camera into position. Really pleased with the result, looks very clean and OEM, very difficult to tell it's actually there.
Connectivity to your iPhone is very simple and works perfectly, I tend to find taking the memory card out of the camera and using the supplied media card reader in the PC the easier options, but this will be personal preference. The quality of the footage is excellent, good wide picture, that picks up plenty of detail, reading number plates is certainly no issue. Only slight issue I have is that you do get a bit glare off the windscreen which is an issue a polarising filter would fix but FITCAMX don't do one. I've read various feedback that suggests a particular Garmin one would work, but I've picked one of those up and the fit isn't great.
All in all though it's a very good solution. Simple, quick and easy to fit and unbeatable in terms of getting that OEM look.

I'm assuming the little forward "vents" are the rain detect sensor? Are the vents on the bottom temp sensor? Just curious. I like the looks of the Fitcamx and the install looks simple. I'm considering adding one as well.

Subscribed to hear your feedback on the Fitcamx. I just recently discovered that product as well and am interested. I really like the factory-ish look and how it integrates into the existing harness in the mirror. It looks like it does lack features compared to the dash cams we have in other cars...audible alerts and GPS being a couple...but not sure I need them.

Yea definitely seems to be a mixed bag of reviews on amazon; some saying the wire gets in the way. Someone said their windshield cracked due to pressure etc. I'll install mine and review here.

It does lack some features yes, no GPS etc, but IMO the integration into the car far outweighs these minor drawbacks, plus 9 times out of 10 they are things I never use or rely on.

It's going to sound like I am trying to market these things I know, but frankly some of the reviews are an absolute load of tosh. I am not suggesting for a minute that a "little bit" of work is not required to get the perfect finish, but shuffling cables around a little bit once you plugged the camera in so you can get the shrouding to fit back correctly is hardly problematic, just requires a little patience. And the comment re cracking their windshield... wtf!? The camera slides into place using the same mounting points as the bit of shrouding you remove right at the start, so it's going to have no impact on the windshield whatsoever. Can only assume whoever did that install was trying to use a hammer to do the job for some reason [headbang]

I was thinking the same thing exactly, how the hell do you manage to crack a windshield installing a plastic shroud back to it's original position? I'm actually heading into the garage to install mine. Will update shortly

Well…. Install took 15 minutes, and I’m someone that would normally prefer to pay someone to do something like this than do it myself, not because I think it’s cool to do that but because I almost always end up messing something up. The key is to put the harness under the final piece the third piece that is the biggest otherwise it’s hard to squeeze it under the middle smaller section and you’ll get a gap.

I broke the small right clip from that smaller middle section so be careful when taking it out. It doesn’t seem like it made a difference there’s no gap because it’s being sandwiched between the other two pieces. Just went out to run some errands and video quality is really good. Considering how much attention this thread has brought to fitcam and how many people have recently purchased based on the information provided we should maybe contact the company and have them do a group buy discount for anyone else interested so at least we’re not all paying full price.

It comes with two trim removal tools. I think the cracked windshield review on amazon was due to the dealership doing something incorrectly. I installed mine in 15-20 min and I can’t see how install could result in a cracked windshield. I think the key is keeping the harness out to the side and pushing it up into the large plastic piece not the first two smaller pieces.

When I installed mine in the RS5, there were two cables under the shrouding. A larger one and a smaller one “underneath” it, the smaller one is the one you connect the camera to. With bigger hands it was quite fiddly to get at the smaller cable so I unplugged both. Perhaps what you’ve done is dislodged the second cable somehow. Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting both cables?

Yea same for me. The only way to get the small upper cable out for me was to tug on the actual wire leading into the head of it that was plugged in. fingers were too big to go in and pull it out.

Did the same earlier this week. Hardest part was routing the wiring properly to get the middle trim piece back in place. Took about 5 minutes. Trim came off and went back together easily, and the OE aesthetic integration, which was the most important part to me, is perfect.

The key is to put the harness under the final piece the third piece that is the biggest otherwise it’s hard to squeeze it under the middle smaller section and you’ll get a gap.
I installed one today on my 2019 RS5 and found that the middle piece of plastic is definitely the hardest piece to reinstall. The wiring loom they show in the video is considerably longer than the one that came with my camera which made it tricky to get it back in place. As Rs5Panther mentions, the key was definitely to get the camera connector under the 3rd/largest piece of plastic, which was pretty tight given the short length of cable available on my camera.
The camera gets super hot especially the memory card after you have use it for a few hours.
I also found that when I removed the memory card after a short 10 minute test drive that the memory card was incredibly hot which was surprising after such a short drive, but the video quality is pretty good so far. Hopefully the camera will last longer than 1 year as initiala4 has experienced.

Well hopefully I didn't speak too soon about this camera, today I pulled the sd card out to check a video and realized that for the last 4-5 days the camera has just been recording 1sec to 45sec videos at random times. I'm not sure if something is damaged or there's some other kind of issue maybe loose wiring (no idea) for now i put the original SD card back in to see if that's the issue. Will also contact fitcam after typing this up to see if this is a fixable issue or possibly user error.

Just went through the history while waiting for customer service to reply and it looks like everything was working perfectly until the end of my recent car wash when someone was hand cleaning the inside of the car, after that most videos are only a few seconds long. Maybe a button pushed by mistake somewhere? No idea

Maybe they hit one or both of the buttons on the bottom. You could try doing the reset. I think it’s the outside hole where you have to hold it down with a paper clip or something small for like 20 seconds.

Well soo…. Here’s where things get crazy lol. So the customer service rep had me download an app to test my Micro sd card, I assured him it was brand new and the fastest write speed I could find (maybe a stretch from the truth) so I ran the tests and my “Samsung” pro plus card from amazon which claims 160MB/s was writing at 1mb. I did change the settings when I put the fitcamx card back in but that’s only because the write test on the Samsung card took almost 20 min. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230531/aa424fafcd625f1e58e17add6688645d.jpg

SAMSUNG PRO Plus + Adapter 128GB microSDXC Up to 160MB/s UHS-I, U3, A2, V30, Full HD & 4K UHD Memory Card for Android Smartphones, Tablets, Go Pro and DJI Drone (MB-MD128KA/AM) https://a.co/d/08bD0BR this is a link for the Samsung card I bought from Amazon
Here’s the link for what fitx rep told me to buy SanDisk 128GB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - Up to 160MB/s, C10, U3, V30, 4K, A2, Micro SD - SDSQXA1-128G-GN6MA https://a.co/d/cHzkJWM
According to the rep they recommend using U3 speed micro sd cards, they said that the card I bought is not compatible.

Interesting. The Samsung card I just bought is the Evo Plus. It says it’s U3. The Pro Plus also says U3. Might be a dumb question but did you format the card before using?

definitely not a dumb question because I did not. I'll welcome the roasting now lol, well unless I did the right thing by not formatting.

Well, I'm not saying it'll fix the issue but I know FitCamX recommends formatting the disk before first use (even the one it comes with). And then formatting it several times a year. I formatted the included one and the new Samsung one. So far, both seem to work identical. I just ran the speed test on the stock card, here's the results. I'll do the Samsung here in a bit.

OK, I just ran the Samsung card and here's the results. Write speed is about half but maybe that's because the card is twice the size. My best guess anyways. I would think 8mb a sec is still plenty fast enough to record. I also played around with file sizes and resolution but the results were pretty much the same.

I've been using these without issues, one in the Garmin, one in the BlackVuehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230531/f6fc18c05d3a08e5d57997fd5bacef71.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230531/02ac8c39d9df46b12bb478da54ad84af.jpg

Thanks for doing this bro, going to keep the card in that came with the cam until my new micro shows up, and when it does i'll test that also.

Also worth mentioning that counterfeit SanDisk cards have been known to show up on Amazon. It might not be necessary but is certainly safer to buy the cards actually sold by Amazon and not a third party. I found a great sale on mine from Best Buy that rendered the counterfeit concern moot.
Hope everything works out with your camera.

yea just realized mine is sold by CWP online, i'm just going to cancel it at this point, and walk into a Best buy it's such a tiny expense in the big scheme of things considering how much we spend on our cars. Thank you for the insight bro. Just cancelled my order, i'll walk into best buy tomorrow and see what they have that is compatible but i'll be sandisk for sure.

Just for info, I pulled my Samsung card after a few drives and it's recording fine. I have my FitCam set to record in 5 minute increments. Everything working as it should. So, it looks like the Samsung Evo Plus card is compatible and the Samsung Pro is not. The specs on the Evo look identical to the high end SanDisk card (U3, A2, V30).

When you place the order they will ask for your vehicle specs. They too want to make sure you get the right one. Shipping is pretty fast as well. I’m still very happy with mine. No issues at all.
