Hi Guys! I have a 2019 B9 Audi SQ5 and have to decide the wrap color ASAP. I'm torn between Inozotek Khaki Green, Chalk Grey, or Nardo Grey and 3M's Satin Dark Grey. The top contenders are Satin Grey then the Green. Unfortunately, there are not many examples out there of SQ5s wrapped. Please help weigh in!!

Ideally I wanted this grey since it is not as shiny but i dont think any of the major brands carry a closer comp then the Satin from 3M.

Soooo... should i go w the green? I'm just worried about longevity since the car will not be garaged. Also, I'm in NYC so scratches and dirt chips may show worse on this glossy finish.

I mean, when you have your pick of literally hundreds and hundreds of color choices why on earth would you just pick grey? Literally, the most common factory color from a manufacturer notorious for having so few standard color options.

I’m not disagreeing with you but yes typically I the cars I’ve wrapped have been colors that were not offered from factory.

Most color wraps look fake and kinda tacky imo. Thats why i wanted to keep it something clean but even the satin dark grey is borderline ghetto depending on the car.
I agree the green is probably the coolest but will the gloss hold up if its not garaged and i have to deal with NYC roads? idk

My wife wants to wrap her R in Porsche’s Ruby Star. It’s been tough trying to find something similar online.

I agree - and this is coming from someone with a gray SQ. Go bold, do something different. It's wrap for crying out loud. It's all temporary.

If you're parking outside, the gloss on that 3m 1080 will go to absolute shit in about 2 years. Ask me how I know.

If i go gloss, i would do the Inozotek Khaki Green. I'm leaning toward the 3M 2080 satin dark grey since it may hide any imperfections / wear & tear in the city.
Would you mind showing a pic of your 2yr old wrap? curious to see how its worn down.

I don't have pics anymore but I had my b6's roof wrapped black in 3m 1080 gloss black. It basically started going matte in the middle and slowly spreading to the entire roof. Also, the sun really bakes that adhesive on. I peeled it off after 3 years and took me hours, with tons of parts of it separating from the adhesive and leaving adhesive patches. Also was super brittle and would snap every time I got a good few inches pulled up. Not to mention the amount of clearcoat it took with it. Roof basically looks trashed now, in some places. If its outside, make sure you remove it in 2 years tops and rewrap it so this doesn't happen to you.
I have 2-3 year old wrap on my window trim on my SQ right now, producing the same spotty matte effect. I'll try to get you a pic tomorrow. It looks awful, like heavily worn sun damaged old plastic.

here’s my trim wrap on my b9 about 2-3 years later. 3m 1080 gloss.

Damn thanks for the input! I plasti-dipped my window trim 2 years ago and it was the worst thing I ever did. Just removed all of it yesterday but it looked just like yours. This is really having me rethink the whole wrapping process. No matter if I go glossy or satin, i feel like its going to get ugly pretty fast smh

Yeah when wrap shops or vinyl sellers tell you it’s good for 3-5 years… they mean garaged, perfectly maintained, and probably driven less than 10k miles a year. nothing comes close to paint, despite how much they try to tell u it’s a substitute for paint.
