Got an error driving today saying TPMS malfunction. It stopped showing data for front passenger and rear driver. I got to work and re stored the tire pressure via mmi but still errors. I got home and ran my vcds tool and got the following. I cleared the codes but it came back. The car is a 2019 with only 9k miles on it. can't imagine they all went bad. I'm not sure if sensors are covered under warranty or not. T

thanks

I’ve not had issues with my ‘19 OEM sensors, they have been on/off the car several times over 2.5 year and 25k miles.

Once they are activated I don’t know what would drain a set of batteries faster than normal. I leave my tire pressure on my display most the time to reduce bent wheels/tire bulge. I wonder if having that display on causes more Tpms activity and drains the batteries.

The vcds log shows low voltage started in April, now two months later the batteries appear to be dead.

I would think they are still under warranty if you want to deal with Audi, so long as they are on the OEM wheels. I would take them to dealer or tire store or auto parts store to just get them scanned ( usually free service ) to confirm the low or no voltage.

thanks for the reply, I actually went to my nearby dealer to discuss.. So they are not on my oem wheels. they are on my bc forged wheels that I put on every summer. I bought the sensors from worldimpex in may 2019 when I got the car (got new wheels at same time). they've worked fine until today. Dealer said that unless it's a warranty issue, I'd have to pay the $187 diagnostic fee just to see if it's the sensors. It dawned on me to just put back on my oem wheels (in garage with winter tires) and see if the tpms system works. If it doesn't then I'll take back to dealer with oem wheels/sensors to get resolved. If it ends up being a sensor from world impex, I'll just buy new ones myself and take it elsewhere to get installed vs the dealer. Costco had actually done the install since I had ordered my summer tires from them back in 2019. Is there a way to determine if a sensor is bad? I've read about scan tools for tpms sensors that you place near the wheel. Not sure if that would work with the RS3 sensors.

I got a basic ATEQ tpms reader last year for ~$100 and it payed for itself. It was able to tell me one of my sensors was defective *before* I had the shop install on my wheels. It reads temperature, pressure, sensor id, frequency and battery status. It can also store in memory the last reading for each wheel. My only complaint is the display is difficult to read because it's not backlit. Alternatively, check the status of the each sensor with VCDS by selecting control module 65-Tire Pressure, Adv. Meas. Values and tick the check box for the values of each sensor you want to read (you can check up to 12 values to log).

Hope this helps.

For what it's worth, I had issues with TMPS sensors bought from Discount Tire for a separate set of wheels. Worked for a few days and then stopped working... had to pick up a set of (vastly overpriced) Audi sensors and have had zero issues with them since.

so, I put back on my oem wheels (now with winter tires) and reset and drove it around TPMS works now. So I guess I have a bad sensor on my summer wheels. I thought they were OEM since I bought them from Worldimpex but they didnt' last very long. I'm thinking of getting a set from tpms.com. set of 4 is $140. May get the testing device to figure which has failed and replace as needed. Any experience with tpms.com?

thanks

Yes I have sensors from them on two sets of wheels and no issues. They’ve lasted about 1.5 years, we’ll see when they die.

cool. I've read other positive reviews so I'll just go ahead and get them. Insane how much the dealer markup is on these.
