I am not affiliated with UpgradeMyAudi.com.
I got a newsletter with a coupon code this morning that makes the maps rather inexpensive and wanted to share here for those who have been wanting to update their onboard map data. I used their last update package and it was flawless.
https://upgrademyaudi.net/news/new-maps-update-for-usa-canada-and-mexico-6-22-1-8r0051884hg/
Coupon code for 40% off: USmap6221. Good until the end of May.

This is great but I fear I'll have to reach out to them, I think previous owner did some adjustments to my unit as I don't recognize the MMI info in my S7.

thanks for that clarification, it was the image icons I wasn't used to, my 2015 just showed the normal screen I'm used to.
With that said, me having an MHI2, which option would that be from the site:
Audi MMI 3GH / 3G High / Bundle
Audi MMI 3GP / 3G Plus / HN+ Bundle
Audi MMI 3GP / 3G Plus / HN+R Bundle
Otherwise I'll send them a message like previously noted. Thanks again.

Forget upgrading MHI2 systems via that site.
MHI2 uses maps license instead of activator that they provide.
MHI2 is much more complex to update than MMI3G,not even the maps are the same.

Its a whole different story for maps between MHI2(MIB2) and MMI 3GP,they are nowhere near similar.
MMI 3GP uses activators for each map package while MHI2 uses its internal license to allow maps to install.
I can extend the license and also activate Carplay and Android auto on those units.

Its only ~$70 for software update and another ~$70 for maps, total ~$140? That seems like a steal compared to the dealer.

Is anybody interested in group buying? I'd be willing to split the costs. PM me if interested. I'm thinking if we can get 6 people in on this, it'll only be $10 a person with the coupon code that is good till the end of the month. I'm down to group buy with any amount of user tho. I see alot of other countries doing this.

Just as an FYI, Sima upgraded my system with maps and apple car play (16 s7) and its worked seamlessly. the price was good and it was easy to do. if you are looking to do any of this, I would HIGHLY recommend using Sima to do the work.

Just maps, no. Firmware may reset anything within the MMI, but nothing beyond that unit.

2013 is pre-facelift which is MMI 3G+ not MIB2 so adding carplay through software update is not possible. Only solution is to go with aftermarket unit.

Hello! I installed the latest firmware update and maps pack. Everything works perfectly, except the car will not calculate routes. I hit "start route guidance" and it just sits on the loading screen. If you let it sit long enough, it just reverts back to the map, without any directions. If anyone has and idea what could be wrong, please let me know. Updated maps are kinda useless without route guidance...

Update: Cleared all the error codes in OBDEleven according to the instructions on upgrademyaudi.net. Drove the car for 30 minutes. Now everything works (including the route guidance). Maps do appear to be accurate and updated.

This updates the "stick figure" street maps and points of interest lists. It has no effect on the satellite image overlay that used to be (and no longer is) provided through Google Maps. Maybe try turning off the Google Map choice in your MMI to see if the "blur" goes away.

Short answer, yes. Use link provided by The Infiltrator. Just be aware there are differences between C7 and C7.5, and also differences between map update and firmware update. Be sure to read and follow directions carefully, as it is apparently possible to "brick" the system if one is careless.

Yes, but you need a PC to which you grant access by another person you don't know and a dongle and a charger and access to the internets while you're doing it.
My question is why can't you just buy a preloaded SD card, insert it into the slot, and go about your business as you happily drive down the road?
Why is this so hard?
And I certainly don't doubt the validity or quality of CarPlay or SimaKoya's work, but there MUST be an easier way than such a workaround for a 4 yr old car.

You can do it yourself, you just need a Windows PC and USB/Ethernet adaptor and some specialized code generators
(Generalizing the steps now)
From there Telnet into the MMI with the correct user/pw combo
Download your FEC files for backup incase things go south (SD CARD)
Generate FEC code for the license for Lifetime map update
Apply Lifetime License to MMI (SD to MMI)
**Hope it works**
If it works then you need to source the actual map for NAR
If this sounds too complex then three options:
1. Dealer- Buy License/Map/Labor (assume $500+ for 1 year)
2. SimaKoya or CarPlay (Whatever rate they charge may even include newest map, then you just need to source new maps afterwards)
3. Leave it as is

Unfortunately Audi USA stopped supporting their employee who had an ongoing thread on AZ for such questions. I imagine Audi thought most customers would prefer "over the air" updates, and they focused on the time frame important to their lease customers.

The process may be slightly different for you but that's the general idea. Download to your computer, transfer to SD card, then follow directions carefully and upload to car. Don't forget a battery tender.

It usually takes about an hour or so, first time, I did update both MMI and Maps, so, it took about two hours. Next time, I only updated maps and it took about an hour. I haven't updated 21 maps yet, but willing to do soon. Bummer that discount code is not working.

Can't speak for all of these guys but for my C7 update I was sent SD cards in original Audi packaging. I assume a dealer parts employee gets them wholesale and sells them on the side. Another situation for the C7.5 updates might be an Audi mechanic also working on the side. And some may be pirates as you suggest. Aftermarket companies are able to source and sell OEM physical components, why not software?

Several of us have reported here on the forums who we worked with to update our MMI/maps/carplay and it was easy and a fair price.
If it works and you save money, does it matter? If it is a problem for you, then just drive to your local dealer and pay too much.
