Hey guys,

Swapped to summer tires this weekend and clean-up my winters. And, I talked to tire shop about Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. They said either stock 255/35/20 or 265/35/20 would fit that 8.5” rim.

I get the extra weight will slow me down, but stage 2 would more that compensate.. has anyone sone 275s on stock 20” rims?

It's technically possible but not recommended, it is beyond the wheel width 275s are designed for so the tread will start to bow out, either way don't do it

275 is way too wide for your stock wheels. 265 max.

Thanks for the replies guys. Is 265 too much; should I just stick with 255??

265 is still technically outside official "spec" on a 8.5" wide wheel. Some tire shops may refuse to mount them too. TireRack even says do not do it. That being said a 265 does indeed fit on an 8.5" wide wheel and so far without issue.
So if you are a "by the book" kind of guy stick with the 255. If you believe in grey areas then go for the 265.

That what I was afraid of. Maybe I need 9.5” wheels with 275s and a different offset!!

Jumping to a 20x9.5 just to fit a 275? I love me some wheels, so if that’s your end game, more power to ya! I have 275’s on my 9”, so if going that wide, might as well go for 285.

265 on the right high-performance summer tire (PS4S) with handle stage 2 no problem! Better traction on a 275 would be minuscule, though the ride and handling will likely change on a 9.5”/275 set-up

Ended -up ordering stock sizes (255/35/20) MPS4s. Looking forward to those.
