After ordering a new headunit (xtrons) I figured id see about getting rid of the fairly terrible Bose amp in the trunk.

Is like to retain the factory wiring and not have to run new wires all over the place.

How can i simply remove the Bose amp and replace it with a 4/5 channel to power speaker and/or sub?

Can i simply splice in at the harness that plugs into the amp at the line in and go directly to an aftermarket amp? Ie bypassing the bose?

Either running a full 5 channel to include the sub or a 4 channel to just run the components and leave the bose running the sub temporary and add a momo amp later.

Ive done some car audio in the past but its been a while. But with how the bose system is set up it just seems more complicated.

This is the 4 channel im looking at due to its small size and decent power output. Dont worry about ohms, I'll replace the components eventually as well.

I believe this is the pinout for the bose amp

Any help would be appreciated.

Here’s my quick take:

Your bose amp takes in a 4 channel signal. There are four line level inputs and a common ground from OEM unit. You can splice in two pair of RCAs into these signal wires to your new amp. Or if aftermarket, run your own RCA’s to the back.

From the Bose amp, there are 6 speakers (to my knowledge) that are powered. Two front doors, two rear doors, a center speaker in the dash at the windshield, and a subwoofer. You should be able to find the pin out that corresponds to the +/- for each of these speakers (your attached photo did not work for me, viewing from mobile). Note, for the door speakers, there is a mid size woofer in the lower door and tweeter in the upper door. I don’t recall how the cross over works as I don’t believe the door tweeters/woofers each have unique inputs from the amp. This could be a research area.

Historically the difficulty with the Bose speakers is understanding their impedance. I think they have been confirmed to be 2ohm - not common.

Further, the speakers are not all that nice, either. Paper cones. Even though this was the “premium” stereo available.

Recommend running your own 4 channel rca pairs from your new head unit to the back. Use the speaker wire outputs from the bose amp if you wish - will get to the speakers just fine. You likely will not use the center channel. Don’t bother with the sub, as your amp will likely already be in the back and can route wire however you please.

The one thing im trying to do is not hack up the factory harness at the amp, since i cant replace that plug.

I know I can get a new head unit harness from several places so i figured if i need to chop one ill just chop that.

If the harness the HU comes with does indeed have RCA out then i might just be in luck, i can just buy some 15ft rca cables and run it all back to the rear.

So much to consider!

Heres a link to the pin out on google if it helps
