Thanks to an unfortunate mishap involving a small garage, the passenger side mirror has been broken on my Audi A4. The glass is shattered and needs to be replaced. Furthermore, the actual mirror part is scratched up and wont go back into place properly, meaning I need to replace it as well. However, the estimate an Audi dealership gave me was close to 900$ to have it all repaired. I've looked online and seen the passenger mirror for roughly 150$. The mirror is heated but doesnt have blind spot detection. I'm wondering if there is an easy tutorial on how to replace it, or anywhere in Orange County that will do it for cheap. Thank you.

You don't mention if it's a sedan or allroad. They use different sized mirrors and therefore different bases and covers.

All the US mirrors are heated, so the two variations are whether you have auto-dimming or not.

The base also has two variations, whether you have memory mirrors (ie, memory seats) or not.

And then there's the cover, also with two variations. But you've already mentioned you do not have the blind spot assist.

Once you determine which parts you need to replace and the relevant part numbers, finding used replacements should be easy enough. And replacing them I would expect to be a simple enough DIY. This guys seems to be winging it a bit more than I would care too, but it'll give you a visual to some of the process: https://youtu.be/shhPzos2CFE. I would certainly pay for a day at erwin.audiusa.com and get the repair manuals for your car. All the side mirror stuff is covered in group 66, exterior equipment, in the Body Exterior repair manual.

Thank you for the help. The car I have is a sedan FWD configuration. I was able to replace the mirror and snap the plastic back into place. However, the only piece thats broken is the side indicator on the passenger side. Its only partially broken but the audi tech said if water gets in itll start causing errors. Is there a place I can find a replacement for this, and is it even a big deal?

You mean part 5 on the link I provided? 8K0949102D/C/B Such as https://www.ebay.com/itm/nn703421-Audi-A3-2011-2012-2013-RH-Door-Mirror-Turn-Signal-Light-Lamp-OEM/232284966687 ?

Exactly like that for the A4, would I need to take it to the dealership or would I be able to do it myself possibly

Don't get caught up in eBay listings' generic texts. Know the exact part number you want and get that, whatever the listing text.

As the link shows, if you click on part 5, it's 8K0949102 D which replaced C which replaced B. So get a 8K0949102 D or C or B and you're done. That someone took it off an A3 that uses the exact same part is of no concern to you. But do not get an E, that is for the allroad with its larger mirrors.

As for DIY, I know I would replace it myself. It's documented in group 94, exterior lights/switches, in the Electrical Equipment repair manual. Back to that erwin.audiusa.com link I already posted. The short version is it's attached to the housing/cover with two screws. So if you've had the cover off, you were 95% done with getting the light removed.
