Have any of you used the interlocking rubber tile for the garage flooring?

If you have, which brand did you use or would recommend?

Cool man, if you call and talk to them they will help get you exactly what you need.

There is a forum dedicated to garage stuff and whole sections on flooring. Best place to look.

I'm going on a few months now with the swisstrax. Check out garagejournal.com for all the flooring chat you can handle.

If you're interested in swisstrax, it's worth talking to them directly. They'll get you the best price (despite what other sellers say) but more importantly if you need any warranty help then it's good to have that relationship. I was breaking tiles like crazy the first month and Swisstrax was replacing very easily. I have a .5" transition which was causing the tires to 'push' the tiles as opposed to rolling over. I now have rubber ramps to ease that entry and haven't broken any.

The plastic tiles look the part and really depends on how you use your garage. I detail part time and abuse my space probably. I like the consistent look of the tiles and that I can resell them but they are kind of fragile but if all you're doing is pulling in and parking then they're fine. [:)]

Racedeck do feel like garbage in comparison. Smaller and thinner tile is really apparent when you put them next to each other. My colors are pearl silver and pearl gray - 800ish sq ft

Dont hold me to this, but my neighbor recently looked into this. I believe he went with RaceDec because they sell a repackaged version of the Swisstrax product. Confirmed on another forum and in their financials. Might be a way to save some money.

Again, could be off base here but just thought id throw it out there.

Looks great, Larry, though I'm jealous you have twice the footprint I do. You had finished floor before, right? My polyurea (sp?) coated floors are lifting in several spots. I may be under warranty with the floor yet, but these swisstrack floors are very intriguing and look really nice. Have you ever had any issues with a jack on them and breaking tiles?

This might be slightly off track from the tiles you asked but I went with a Polyurea floor coating. I was also considering tiles as an option as well. I went with this because it ended up being cheaper (at least compared to what tiles are advertised as). I ended up paying $3.99 sqft and this was for prep and install. This differs from epoxy coatings as its much thicker and will not flake off. Holds up great to the Texas heat and I assume the winters we have in Dallas as well. I've seen the epoxy coating flake where the hot tires park in the garage too. Comes in a variety of colors and simply just wash with Dawn soap whenever needed.

Only have some crappy cell pics but hopefully you get the idea. Only close up I had was with the dirty air filter.....

Was typing was last post as you were posting. I'm not sure why your Polyurea is flaking? I know with mine they physically grinded the flooring and didn't just do a chemical etch like others. Do you recall if they chemical etched it or ground the floor?

My installer gave me a 10 year warranty. I did have to have him fix a spot that was my fault honestly. Came up to the lip of the garage with my Jeep while backing it. Goosed it a little too much and tore some off right at the lip. He fixed it no problem and the match/blend that he did you wouldn't even know he fixed it.

I have the same. I went with brindle flake. Lifetime guarantee, rated for daily forklift traffic. I've dropped a jack stand from 4 feet, and not even a pit. [cool] It's cake to clean and looks nicer than tiles IMO. Mine still look new after 3 years. No question would do this floor again, and have fought myself in regard to doing my entire basement floor, lol.

Nice flooring!

Did you do it yourself?
I'm still deciding between the two.
But the flooring gets done after the mods so heh.
I've got time.

Thanks! I love it! Provides such a showroom feel.

This is 100% not a DIY application. I did the DIY commercial epoxy at the last home, and it was a constant PITA. Never again. Only proper industrial grade for me going forward.

Glad your priorities are in check [:D]

Nice living room.

I did have a couch out there for a bit [>_<]

Always enjoy seeing your garage. You reminded me I need to float my Gladiator cabinets on the wall and get them off the ground. Love the sink too wish I had one....

As mentioned this isn't a DIY. I suppose it could be if your used to this kind of work (construction) or are super ambitious. It took a crew of 3 guys, 3 days to complete it.

First day they brought in a surface grinder to level and remove a thin layer of concrete to ensure adhesion. Patch the cracks that came through from sanding. Next day lay the base coat layer and let it dry over night. Throw the flake and then clear it with the Polyurea.

If you got a few buddies and a few days to do it I suppose its possible. Then again you have to value your time and I've running low on time lately unfortunately.

I also enjoy working on the cars in the garage so having jacks and jack stands on a sturdy surface was a priority. Not sure about jacks and jack stands on the tiles.

Yeah, I did a three part commercial epoxy three years ago but the sun took it's toll and was yellowing. Pretty bummed about that and the manufacturer wanted $2k to send me supplies to scuff and redo. No thanks. The tiles are growing on me but they're not the perfect solution for how I use the space.

I have the ribtrax pro in black, I really like it and it has a long time warranty, but if I had to change it I would go with gray because it opens the space and it makes it bigger. I got the black because I thought it's more suitable for a garage and I also got a new black garage door opener and finally my garage doors fixed (https://www.advantagegd.com/okotoks-garage-door-repair), so everything it's looking set up and clean. Another thing I like is that I can clean it easily and if I drop something it doesn't break or make a lot of noise. Long story short, I highly recommend it.
